InactiveScott,
The helmet would be fine for karting. It has a M2000 rating which is allowed by karting sactioning bodies, but the helmet would not be legal for use in auto racing. The auto racing helmets which are SA rated have both a thicker shield (approx. 1/8″ vs. 1/16″ for the M’s) as well as a fire retardant lining. I haven’t seen one personally but it doesn’t look like a bad lid for the $$$$. One thing that I noticed it has that is very nice are the studs for tear-offs on the shield. If you end up with the helmet be sure to get a set they usually run about $20 for 30 of them. Visors are expensive and running 2 or 3 tear-off will save them from getting all scratched up and pitted from rocks. And when they get dirty from oil, bugs, etc. you can pull one have a nice clean visor again. As far as the suit goes it will work but I would personally look for something different. I raced in the exact same suit for a bit when i started racing and will say it is a bit thin. I now have a Sparco Monaco and it is great, it is one of their more expensive suits but they have many others that are cheaper but are still great suits. The SHIFT suits also look very stout and I’ve seen many guys running the Gearbox suits as well. Autosport Werks in Broomfield is a Sparco dealer and has many of the suits in stock, you can go check them out and try some on if that is an option for you.

InactiveThere is no need for a fireproof suit for karting.
