I would start him in a shifter.

im no expert for karting at all but for him, id say probably a 50cc… 😀
Yes, 50cc kid kart. Do an internet search for Kid Kart and you will turn up lots of options. Also check Ebay, sometimes there are used kid karts there and sometimes some good deals on new ones. I purchased a 2003 Birel new in the box for a little over a thousand. If you get a chance get down to the track on race day and look around and talk to people. Everyone I have met so far has been real helpful, including the guys at the IMI shop.
