That’s a Motori piston with a bit of upper end bearing cage mixed in for flavor.

    Hi Rick,

No diagnosis for the pile of shrapnel.
#2 with chunk out of back of piston, due to cylinder base gasket failure, flooding engine with coolant.
#3 hole in piston, carb flange not tightened. I would agree running on lean side. :bang

Gunther, why are you using RV as a gasket when you should be using a paper gasket.

    Just asking…

    Gunter,

How did you guess? That’s what my knee feels like. Surgery is on Thursday… Yes, it’s a mess. I’ll be OK. I won’t be able to make the race at PPIR in Oct. I’ll be out of town. Thanks for the good wishes.

    Mike,

Seemed like a good idea at the time to use silicone gasket, if you dont have paper gasket.
As the only other Motori owner in CO. you should be able to relate to having to deal with the sole importer of Motori. “It’ll cost you an arm and a leg and I might get it to you in a month or two”.

    G,

With the proverbial milk spilt I’ll tell you this: Butcher paper works well, I’ve made 6 of them as back ups.

Or, you could have emailed me and asked if I have any spares (i have several in various different thicknesses)
