InactiveWhat does everyone think about running all the 2005 CSC race using the same two day format as we did in Steamboat? This year was our first year up to the “boat” but I will say that I really enjoyed the format. In my opinion it made for a much more relaxing enjoyable race weekend. We didn’t have to be up at an ungodly hour to get to the track and the races were done each day at a reasonable time. We all got a bit for track time than we normally do for our money and had enough time between runs to catch another race here and there.
The series IMHO is only going to continue to grow and there were a few races this year that were not done until well after the sun had set and light was disappearing fast. As the numbers grow the races are only going to take longer and longer and it only takes one mishap to get the day behind schedule. A two day event seems logical to me. The weekends are a bit more laid-back and the folks from out of town can get home at a resonable hour. So what do you guys think?

ParticipantDane,
I think it’s a good idea but I don’t think we all have the ability to take the whole weekend off.
That and (JB, Brad, Stacey, feedback please) the track owners wouldn’t support a weekend without the income of the rental fleet, right?
We just need to run more efficiently (drivers meetings starting on time, efficient pregrid and grid) and rid CSC of the classes that aren’t generating enough drivers. Just my thoughts.

ParticipantNO WAY!
I am not going to pay for two days of ambulance, insurance, payroll, etc and loose a day of track rental and rentals for 150 entries just so you can sleep in late. Forget it, end of story, not an option!

ParticipantI ran every race that csc had to offer. Five out of town and two at home. Every race weekend I was at the track on saterday to practic and sunday to race. With most of my races being out of town the only time I had was the day before the race to practic. The steamboat race was great, I got back home at 8pm instead of 1pm. This is the way it should be ran. The tracks would make more money with the csc event ran on both days rather than rental karts on saterday. This would make us out of towners every happy and my wife. 😀

ParticipantDane, What did you guys think of our schedule at GJMS on the last CSC race? we ran 2 full practices for all classes and a complete program and we were totally done by 5:30. That is what we are trying to do a GJMS is get down a schedule and stick to it by the minute. We would not be oppossed to a two day event but as Blink says it is really expensive for the tracks to do that.

InactiveThe last CSC race at Grand Junction was run very efficiently and should be a model for all the other tracks to follow. Great job guys!!!!
I do not really have a preference as to whether events will be two offical days or not, but practice sessions should ALWAYS be separated on the Saturdays before CSC race days. It is only a matter of time before a HUGE accident occurs due to the relative closing speed between rentals/jr. karts and TaG/Shifters. This is not difficult to do, and I believe GJ did it like this on both Saturdays prior to CSC races with no problems.
BTW, Stacy and Darren were cheering me on during every lap of the Steamboat race as I was coming back up through the pack…. Thanks for the encouragement guys!!!!

InactiveFor What It’s Worth,
So that you don’t cut in on the rental kart business that these tracks really depend on Saturday. Have controlled practices and rental karts alternate. This way rentals and the racers are not fighting for the same piece of realestate and everyone is safe. The track is happy and so are the racers. The key thing here is to work together.
If you demand it all you will get nothing….

InactiveI prefer the way it has been run at GJMS both Saturday and Sunday. Very organized and on schedule. Steamboat was very nice and relaxing because of track open/close time, but I’m not sure it needs to be that way at every CSC event.
My .02
By far The entire CSC is an EXCELLENT organization. I’m very proud to have been involved in karting this year and many more to come.
 to all.

ParticipantOne-day or two-day events are fine with us, however, when two-day events are run, with qualifing on Saturday, seal the motors like they do in STARS. Not a magic marker line, a real seal that gets logged. There were too many top ends going on that I saw in the pits in Steamboat after we qualified. I even think there was a total motor swap on Saturday evening in our class last weekend after qualifing.
The new teck director should find ways to eliminate this from happening. If someone needs a new ring, or some top end work after qualifing, they need to get permission, do the work, re-seal and start on the back row. - AuthorPosts
