This tragedy will forever change my life and how I think about the safety of our children.
Parents and friends please take a moment to focus on what is important to all of us as parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents and friends? our children. I realize that I?m newbie in your community (so thanks for reading); this is a tragedy that can happen to anyone. I think it was important enough that I want to share it with you all. It would mean so much me to me if you could please pass this on to your loved ones and friends.
Nicholas Mack was tragically struck by a speeding 16 year old in the front of his home. The teenager had his licenses for 2 ? weeks and was illegally driving with two other minors in the SUV. Unfortunately he was not paying attention. A witness estimated that he was going approximately 25 mph in a 15 mph zone (a residential side street). He never hit his brakes until the damage was already done. My good friend?s son Nicholas Mack, 5 years young, died in his father?s arms in front of their home. This is a very difficult time for all of us and this letter is hard for me to write but? I feel as a parent of two children that it is my duty to bring awareness to this horrific situation. With hopes of educating us all maybe this will help prevent such a tragedy in the future. At Toy?s R-Us you can purchase a $25 sign to put in front of your home (it is neon green with a slow man and a red flag) to warn of children at play. It may be the best $25 dollars you ever spend.
Nothing can ever bring Nicholas back and we will never understand why this horrific tragedy happened. But maybe we can try to prevent it from happening again. I?m dedicating this weekend at IMI to Nicholas and his family. I will be entering the 4 cycle heavy class and will (with rookie skills) race my butt off. I know for sure that I will do my best. Wish me luck.

Nicholas James Mack was a brief and beautiful gift to his parents, family, and friends. This is personal for me; his father is one of my closest childhood friends. His family is blown-apart right now and I cannot even begin to imagine their pain. Though nothing can ease their suffering, the least I can do is try to help where I can.Continuing to love, honor, and value Nicholas? short life, please consider contributing to his memorial fund:

Go ahead and mention my child,
The one who died you know.
Don’t worry about hurting me further,
The depth of my pain doesn’t show.
Don’t worry about making me cry.
I’m already crying inside.
Help me to heal by releasing
The tears that I try to hide.
I’m hurt when you just keep silent,
Pretending he didn’t exist.
I’d rather you mention my child,
Knowing that he has been missed.
You asked me how I was doing.
I say “pretty good” or “fine.”
But healing is something ongoing.
I feel it will take a lifetime.

October 4, 2007 at 12:50 pm #59699Angie MacEwenParticipantThis is such a tragic event. I can’t even begin to imagine what a parent goes through when something like this happens. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick’s family and friends. I have sent this on to many people, and know that every one will be touched by it. Hopefully many young drivers will get to read it, too, and realize what a huge responsibility a driver’s license is.
I am very thankful that we live out in the country, and back off the road, where the kids can run and play outside without that worry.Thank you for sharing this with us, Scott.

Thank you for putting Nickolas sticker on your Karts that really was greatest thing that I could have asked for all weekend.
. Unfortunately I lost third place at the end of the main when I got loose in turn 5 but none the less, I had a great time this weekend, met several great people and I truly look forward to next year. I wish it started next weekend.
This coming Sunday we will be doing the Nickolas Mack Memorial Rally. It would be great to see some familiar faces from my new karting family but if not I wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday season. Thanks again for everything.Yours Truly Scott Falcone #99
