ParticipantThat was some funny commentary! And yes, curb hopping isn’t healthy for your sprockets.
Get yourself a frame/sproket protector for the occasional off road excursion. BTW… have you talked to Keesling about off road tires?

Good idea Mike.
Anyone have a recommendation on a good one, or are they all adequate?TIA

ParticipantGraeme,
Here is the sprocket guard I bought: http://www.fastech-racing.com/home.php?cat=217 I love it and it has already paid for itself by saving my butt several times during my ummmm ‘off road exploits.’

ParticipantWe now have plastic sprocket guards in stock.

InactiveThanks Doug. Based on the amount of “off-roading” I saw (and experienced myself) I’m going for the heavy duty aluminium piece.

ParticipantOff Roader, err Graeme:
Get the plastic one for the brake side of the kart. Hersch had one and I think it’s cheap insurance for your rotor side…

ParticipantOur plastic ones bolt one on each side of the sprocket and actually spin with the axle. This way if you get bumped or have a hard hit where the chain would pop off the chain is held in by two pieces of plastic. It also absorbs impacts and won’t let the sprocket carrier bend so easily.
The aluminum ones are nice, but what if you end up in the air then hit the ground hard, the chain will still pop off.
