It was a long hot day but it is finally over. When the dust settled, some of the Colorado boys are looking good.
Conner new in the MiniMax is doing very well. Conner has been in the top 5 all day, at one point setting second quick. In the last session, he picked it up a bit but so did some other kids and Conner is currently setting 9th overall. A great effort for his first national event. Thomas Waddingham from Texas, also on our team struggled a bit but a CHASSIS adjustment before the last practice session gave him that extra bit of speed to place him 8th overall. Brandon Moore’s results don’t show his effort. He only got a few laps in during the final practice session before an on track incident cut his session short. He has been running times that should be good for near or in the top 10.
Greg and I have spent 3 days struggling with a brand new motor but decided to go with our backup engine. It’s paying off for we can no spend our time working on the CHASSIS. In the last session, Greg was flying and his best time was .063 off the provisional pole, good enough for 5th spot out of 67 racers. Unfortunately we had removed a torsion bar and we forgot to add weight to compensate. The scales had been bouncing around all day and we came up a pound short so his time was dis-allowed. Three other guys in the group were caught out also.
Jessie Runkle has been struggling and is mired in mid pack. He has been improving but so has everyone else. We will keep working on him to see if we can find more speed.
Charles Gordon is working hard and has been turning competitive times. We finally got the kart suited to his liking and we were looking for a good result in the last practice. It was not to be, he had a nagging brake issue that held him back. Charles was disappointed for the kart was handling great but he couldn’t show it.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
I urge everyone to come on out and support and cheer on your Colorado based racers. They are trying very hard and a simple word of encouragement would go a long ways.

To quote Ronnie: There you go again… Jealousy and envy about my good looks, charm, wit and talent always means I’ll have a target on my back.
