InactiveGeorge has a race report on his State Champs event over on EKN. There’s and interesting passage…..
Marc Elliot of Denver was our lone TaG competitor and represented himself well by moving up through the Rotax Masters class. We expect the TaG class to grow significantly in 2004.
I take this to mean that TaG classes will be supported at CRE for ’04. If it does, it means a significant change in the CRE program from ’03. I think for the good.
I’d like to know:
1.) what classes?
2.) TaG USA Rules?Care to comment George, or anyone?

InactiveDoesn’t IKF now recognize the TAG class? So if this is true doesn’t that mean that George is not deviating from his race structure.

I don’t know if IKF supports TaG or not, however that doesn’t mean one or more TaG classes couldn’t be offered in an IKF region. Earlier this year there were at least 2 regions running TaG-type classes in the US under IKF as local or region options. By now I expect there are more.
The only problem with running in a option class is youy’re not eligible for Nationals.
There is a process the RD has to go through and the classes have to be approved by the national office.
I can say this – if George does this, and I hope that he does, I’ll be among the first to say yay. I can’t say I’d commit to a full season in his program as I have other commitments and only so much money to spend, but I think I could be coerced into making a few races.
However it’s all pure speculation. The wording of the articlem on EKN only spoke of the class’ continued growth and not necessarily a proper class within his program. I hope George will step up and make this clear for us. I he doesn’t want to support a structured TaG class in his program, I will certainly understand, but it sure would be cool if he would.

InactiveChaz,
CRE will be dropping one or more of our lower attending classes in 2004 in favor of at least one TaG class, depending on overall interest and participation. The class will be requested as a local option in our IKF regional structure. Unless IKF adopts the TaG concept on the national level it will not be considered a National class. However the Parilla Leopard will be eligible to compete on the National level at the 2004 IKF Two Cycle Grand Nationals. We will more than likely follow the TaG USA specifications…..but we will be flexible in dealing with the in state requirements.
CRE will still maintain its committment to The Rotax Max Challenge with a sanctioned six race series in 2004. Rotax racers will have the option to run the TaG class as a secondary or primary class on race day.
CRE did not have a TaG class this season because the program had not been fully developed by the time we had to submit our 2003 class structure and schedule to IKF last fall.
We look forward to having an active TaG class in 2004…..Bring ’em on!October 19, 2003 at 11:22 pm #45101Marc Elliott

Likewise, I’m sure. I’ve always liked the CRE track a lot and have enjoyed driving it. I’m very happy to have another track available for racing my Leopard.

InactiveCRE – George?
Does this mean that you are considering participation in the CSC next year? I sure hope so.

Well, George does seem to be hinting at something, that’s for sure. But, I think that if CRE does support a TaG class in ’04 it will probably be as a part of the CRE program, and not CSC.
In all likelyhood, there won’t be any CSC events at CRE any time in the forseeable future. Ain’t gonna happen. I know there are people who would like to see a CSC race down there – I’m one of them. It’s a great track and is a blast to drive. However, we really should face facts, and the fact is that isn’t going to be a CSC race at CRE. Too much bad blood.
Sad, but true.
