ParticipantI spoke with Byron today. He is really gearing up for this year’s event. Entry forms will be available soon, and registering ahead of time will really help. There will also be more lodging options posted, although my personal recommendation is the West Condos, of course! I know of many that have reservations there already, so if you want to be up on the hill, you had better call to make your reservations. Be sure to ask for “The Colorado Karter” discount rate – really it is just a racer discount – with prices the same as last year. see this informational page from last year (rates are the same) http://www.thecoloradokarter.com/ssgp/westcondos.htm
Byron said he was planning on silver platters for awards. What do you think of that?
Stay tuned here for more details as they become available.

ParticipantThere has been a rumor going around thqt you have to do a certain number of CSC races in order to go to Steamboat. The only thing you need for Steamboat is to show up and pay the entry fee. If you only do one CSC race this year, Steamboat will be the best.

ParticipantOk, below are links to the entry form for the Steamboat Springs Grand Prix. This is round 7 , the finale event of the 2004 Colorado Sprint Championships. Everyone is welcome to attend. It does not matter if you have raced in the series this year or not.
The entry fee has gone up from last year, but before you have a fit, look at the details. Your $85 entry covers both Saturday and Sunday track time and drivers’ pit passes. At any other track you would pay $55 entry for Sunday, plus $20-$30 for Saturday track time. Also there will NOT be a transponder rental fee. An increase was required to cover increases in the other costs involved in setting up this event.
This will be a two day event. Saturday will be full of morning practices and afternoon qualifying. Sunday will begin with warm up sessions and straight to the heat races. Again we will be working with a very strict 8am to 5pm time line with no motors before 8 or after 5.
AIRBOXES are required.
Space is limited, like last year, so please keep that in mind when planning. The area along the east side (back stretch) will be opened up for additional parking, but it won’t add much and space is tight. Big trailers in the front, smaller ones in the back, and overflow down the east side.
They cannot process Credit Cards for pre registration OR for on site registration – so please be prepared with cash or check.

ParticipantMotorhomes are welcome, yes you will need a second pit spot. Just keep in mind that we need to fit everyone in, so be kind! If you have an unusually large motorhome and/or trailer, let us know so that we can make sure that we have enough spaces in the right places.

InactiveHow do we go about reserving pit spots ?

ParticipantFor now you can just mark the number of spots needed on your entry (the fewer the better) Byron is going to be doing a more complete layout of the track and pits after he returns from out of state, and at that time, I hope that we can get a pit diagram ahead of time, so that we can put people in their exact spots on a first come, first served basis. I will keep you posted here. If there is someone specific that you want to pit near, maybe make a note on your entry. We will do what we can to accomodate everyone.
The TecPro barriers are officially going to be there – the same ones that are over at the Mini Grand Prix right now. Bobby (from IMI) will be the flagman, and I will be doing the timing/scoring.

ParticipantIf you are going to Steamboat and want to stay at the West Condominiums, you should probably think about making your reservations. They are filling up fast. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you have a large family or group staying together.
The West Condos are excited about being a part of this event again this year. Not only are they offering the racers a great discount, they are also putting sponsorship money into the event.
The West Condos can be reached at 800-521-4013, and they do have a website… http://www.westcondos.com
