ParticipantStacey,
I have tried to contact you three times today by phone. I only left one message. But here are my questions. what is the requirement on the air box for k3, and do you have an airbox for me to buy? If you have the airbox put it to the side will purchase sat. What is the fuel for k80 class and what is the ratio of oil? do you have the required colored rear number plates for k80 and k3 if so put one of each aside so I can purchase sat.
Thank you,
Brian Moore

InactiveHotwheels,
The SKUSA rule book is a very comprehensive book. Many questions I’ve fielded are plainly explained in the book. I don’t mind answering them but, I would assume you may be looking for the most timely understanding of your question. The book posted to our website is the exact same one I use to research questions.
Regarding air boxes. Rule 20.2.7.4.1 specifically addresses what air boxes are legal.
Now, when you read through there you’ll notice our limit is higher than what is going to be enforced for GJ. We have provisions that allow local tracks that have special situations to lower the db requirement.
But, not to worry. If you are using a freshly packed silencer than hasn’t been cut down excessively and are using the airbox described you should be able to meet the requirements. One trick, if you aim the silencer tip down toward the ground helps reduce dbs with no performace loss.
As a side note. Hopefully some shops will have packing available because inevitably some one has an out of spec silencer.

ParticipantTodd, good to see you on the forum, it is a great help to here it straight from you… Todd is right on the sound issue, if everyone will make every effort to direct the sound down to the ground it makes a big difference!! Some guys even use a piece of sheetmetal as a deflector to be in compliance. We are really sorry for the noise restraints but we need to make sure that we keep the county and neighbors happy… Things are getting tougher and tougher around the country and tracks are getting alot of pressure on the sound issue so it is going to be an ongoing problem… see all of you this weekend..Brian give me a call at the office if I can answer your questions 970-241-7653 the fax is up and working now so things should be ok.. We also have number plates that can be ready with the correct color and # on them for $29.95 just let me know….

ParticipantTodd,
I have tried to find the answers but there is nothing on the airbox requirement for k3. Unlike when we race stars there are specific air boxes for each class. I am not going to assume that the airbox covers all classes to include comer 80 and k3. I made assumptions last year, and we were using rules that had exceptions. I am making sure any question I have regarding the rules are answered specifically as I do not want to see my son DQed over my lack of information or interpetation. Sorry if this makes your job more difficult. I know it will get easier for you as time goes on and the season progresses forward. I am not asking just because i haven’t read what ive seen on the computer as far as rules. I will be happy when I have something I can reference at the track and not the differen’t rules ive seen various places on the internet. So I need to hear it from the tech director or have a printed rule book in hand. I didn’t send in my money for skusa that long ago and as of yet do not have a rule book.
Thank You,
Brian Moore

InactiveBrian,
Like I said, I don’t mind answering the questions. Gives me something to do. 🙂 My biggest concern is that people become aware of what’s in the rule book.As far as what the rules go, its pretty staight forward. Go to our official website and the 2005 rules are listed there. What else is out there, I don’t know. They haven’t changed since being posted almost two months ago.
My suggestion is to hit print and have yourself a nice little pack of rules. What you’ll have is exactly what the printed book will contain. We are sorry about the belated nature of the printed book. With out making excuses, when I started on Feb 1st the book had not been fully completed and I felt it was better to get it right than rush out a bunch of mistakes. 2006 will be a completely different story. Here’s how the book works. There are general rules that cover all the classes. Any exceptions to the general rules are listed specifically with that class. For example, the air box rule I stated covers all classes. In some situations Like JR1 or Tag there will be more specific guidlelines regarding what airboxes are legal. Since no specific regulations are listed under K3 regarding the airbox, the general rules apply.
Hope that clarifies an understandably confusing situation.
