There are times when I’ve very proud, grateful and happy for our karting community. Yesterday struck way too close to home. Some of you may know that we live in the mountain area. The school where both of my sons graduated was one of the schools involved in the lock down while the tragic events unfolded just down the road in Baily.
We received many calls from karters expressing their concern for my son’s safety. Greg came home last night to be with some of his friends from school who still go there and to be with us. Greg has friends that go to school at Platte Canyon and we have friends who teach there. It makes you afraid for your childs safety and well being when such events occur so close to home.
At the same time, I’m very grateful that I’m involved in karting. You can’t believe how heartfelt it is when I say, thank you , thank you for your concern, thank you for your caring. While we often get a bit passionate about karting, its very reassuring to know that in times of need, this community cares more about each other, cares more about the individuals, than just about any community I’ve ever been involved with.
