ParticipantHello to all.
As we are all gearing up to race this weekend at IMI, one point has been raised. Age of drivers in the respective classes.
Because this is an insurance and liability issue, Joe from SKUSA has asked me to post this message.
Proof of age for your driver may be required at registration.
Please be prepared to show proof of age with your registration.Don’t forget your extra water, as we have been setting up the track downtown, it is amazing how fast you can get heat stroke!
See you all on Sunday,

ParticipantJim, since you won’t be at the race who is going to be the one to check birth certificates? We all know this is about one child. Are you going to single out one person? If that is the case everyone under 16 better have a birth certificate with them or maybe I won’t let them race either. I can’t believe the only way for some parents to have their kid win a race is to use age as a issue and keep a fine driver from competing. Jim, I think you should be the one to look this little girl in the eyes and tell her that she is not allowed to race.

ParticipantBrad,
As the track owner who accepts the money and is in business, It is always the track owners option to follow or not follow the rules, and check the entries (the same way it is my responsibility to conform to the racing rules with each of my karts). If you are afraid to let her know that you did not follow the rules, I will gladly explain it to her, (the same way I will explain it to anyone else that doesn’t follow the rules).
The easy way to check is to have anyone who questions an entry of any competitor is to submit it in writing. We all try to self-police the sport.
Let me know.
By the way, I will be racing on Sunday,
Thanks,
JimJuly 28, 2005 at 5:53 pm #51263Mike Jansen
ParticipantI’ll settle it for you both…
I talked to Mikaela and she said would a passport do? 😆

Obviously you don’t care what would happen to that “little girl” when she gets hurt.
Actually, maybe you don’t understand what “insurance” and “liability” means.

Participant“Post subject: SKUSA Rules at CSC and IMI”
Darn I thought for a moment that maybe we were going to start following SKUSA’s rules?

InactiveContrary to the opinion of some, this is not about any one person.
A phone call to our office insinuated that there are junior age drivers competing in classes they are not eligible for given their age. Once we are aware of this, we are forced to deal with the issue. However, we aren’t about doing a “witch hunt” or singling anyone out. Racers will simply have to be able to prove their age if questioned. Any racer.
I apologize for any confusion regarding this situation.
