ParticipantI’m new to karting, and just learning to drive, and having a blast. :new
I have a Rotax Senior MAX motor that has a fresh top end and about 20 hours on the bottom end.
Yesterday we were out driving at IMI, and the kart just stopped on the track, and the clutch would not engage. 😕 🙁
I’m guessing that something in the clutch broke, but I’m not sure. Does this sound right?
My question is about disassembling, inspecting, and repairing the clutch. the clutch in my motor has been updated. I’ve read over the fr125 Rotax repair manual I found on the web. It’s the 2006 manual, so the pictures are the old clutch drum.
I’ve read over the repair manual and looked at the parts list.
Is the work straight forward for somebody who has done some work on motor cross engines in the past?
The repair manual talks about the following special tools.
Puller
Crankshaft fixation toolAre there any other tools needed?

ParticipantRichard:pull the clutch drum of the engine and make sure that the flywheel is not spinning free on the crankshaft sounds to me that you have a loose flywheel.

ParticipantThanks. The other possibility seems to be a broken spring. I’m going to pull the drum today, and take a look see.

ParticipantSo, the drive sprocket was stripped of all teeth. The funny thing was that the chain did not come off, so it was not obvious until we took it apart. So, new sprocket and chain, and I’m all fixed up.
And, I learned how to do that work.
Thanks
