I was given a flyer at CNS last week from some people from Loveland looking to put on an all race car show-and-shine.
When I called today to R.S.V.P. us a spot for the kart, they were very excited to have us.
They want as many as possible, different types and sizes. I told them I would make it known.
ALL are invited from ALL area tracks.

    Sunday October 29 9am – ???

    Orchard’s Shopping Center
    Loveland, CO
    (29th St & Hwy 287)

They would like an RSVP by 10/1 if possible just so they have an idea how much of the parking lot they need to reserve from King Soopers.

Sounds like fun. I think I’m free that Sunday, so I’ll contact Sue and let her know I’ll be there.

    race car show-and-shine

Hmm, my kart wont qualify for that part unless they have a ‘scuffed and scratched trophy’, but that would be a great time for local shops to trot out a few karts. Good info on the show!

This is not a “Gotta-look-Pretty” event.
    No trophies or catagories.
I know I marked it as a show-and-shine, but they know it’s the end of the season and most are going to be beat up. It’s purpose is more of a bench racing get together, but in public for the masses to see.
That’s part of the flavor of this show, being able to tell the stories behind this tire rub, or that dent, etc., etc.

We do these shows often, just for fun. The karts draw ALOT of interest, and not just from the kids. We put ours on the ground so they can sit in it and really get drawn in to what this is all about.

Remember it’s in a King Soopers shopping center. Lots of traffic!

Mikey, I know. Everytime I tell myself to become one of the “silent majority”, I forget the next day. Maybe it’s ADD or something.

The Track’s last club race is that day. We would love to do the show, but am committed to The Track’s race. I think Jim said that date would also be the Gorilla Grand Prix at The Track.

I showed my kart at the race car show in Loveland today. It was held in a shopping mall parking lot. There were quite a few cars there, mostly oval track cars but also a few vintage, quarter migets, and mini-cup cars. I was the only kart. There was a pretty good crowd.

There was an old (probably early 50s) open wheel front-engined roadster that was used for the Pikes Peak hillclimb. It was powered by a Lincoln V8 – an unusual engine choice.

Anyway, there were quite a few people who came by and talked to me about my kart, including a couple who sounded serious about getting their kids starting in karting.

There was a TV crew there and as I was leaving they asked me to wait and tape an 1-minute interview on karting. It wasn’t too painful as the interviewer was a blonde who was a Pam Anderson lookalike. It’s supposed to air during Thanksgiving week on the Altitude channel. So maybe I’ll get on TV if I’m not edited out. 8)

Hope you were looking into the camera Charles!

Good work and thanks for doing that all of us. Hopefully efforts like yours this weekend, the Colorado National Speedway display, Doug and Georges effort at the Denver Gran Prix, The Cooks promoting at the Super Cross and Duffs display in Greeley will help to expose more people to our great sport. And others I may have missed.
