    All

Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating :bang , so PPKRC will postpone this weekends race untill next weekend 13/14 October. We understand that some may not be able to make the new race date due to other commitments. We hope that most will make next weekends race when the temperatures are expected to be in the mid 60’s with NO rain or snow in the fore-cast.
We want to wish Greg Welch (Unser Perf. Div. Racing Team) and any others heading to New Castle good luck, you all will be missed next weekend, have fun and a safe trip.

Thank you all and again we hope to see you next weekend.
    Respectfully for,
    Roger Miller

Thanks for reaching out to us Eddy! Should be a pretty fun race and hopefully we can come home with some prize money. We will have to set up some informal late year racing weather permitting.

Team HARDKart is bringing the pain to the outlaw class at the PPKRC race this weekend. No practice, old tires, and 100cc of air-cooled screaming two-stroke glory. Who wants some of this? Modified shifters? Bring it. Vampires? Bring it. Rotax? psssshh.

OK you might all beat me but I am looking forward to racing for the first time in many years. And I like talking smack.

OK OK so most people beat me. I was psyched to be racing again in a class of 16 karts, lots of happy back slapping masters and fantastic weather contributed to a fun day with the PPKRC. Everyone was welcome, it didn’t matter what motor or tires or if you had the latest 09 clutch basket (for example). It reminded me of the fun that can still be had in karting.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the SKUSA series over the last few years and people seemed so damn SERIOUS that racing at that level is like going to work. I understand WHY as the amount of money it takes to compete is eye-watering to a hayseed like me. I was pleased to be accepted to race in the Outlaw (love that name) class, no one gave me any grief about not having the latest CIK bumper, and the track owner and race staff were genuinely appreciative that we had come to race.

I had a few carb issues due to my ham-fisted adjustments which resulted in a stall exiting the pits (twice–real smooth, Deason) On the rare occassions that I got it to run, my motor was a Monster drift machine that couldn’t keep the tires in line. This may also have a bit to do with my sub optimal chassis settings on my non adjustable flexi flyer chassis.

Once I get my carb figured out, I will be coming back for more. I had a great day and would recommend anyone looking for some fun, TRUE club racing atmosphere to give the PPKRC a try at SBR Motorsports park.

This was the first time my team had raced with the club (Thanks Mike Manov for the recommendation) It was fun racin’ with a group of people that know how to have fun. My Kart had some issues, the engine stalled on me during qualifyling and during the final but it refired during the final just as I was gettin’ lapped! Mr. Deason I was the one who ran over you coming out of the pit gate when your kart stalled sorry ’bout that hope I didn’t hurt the “Outlaw Flexi flyer”. Other than racing, the best part of the day was receiving a trophy, mine says 3rd place and I’m stickin’ to it, the only other karting trophy I have won is for the “Best Crash of 2010” so this one is extra special.

Thanks again to the club and all of the other racers, hope to race with you guys next season,

    Ron and Kirk

Although I was attending my sons wedding this weekend and was not able to be at the race, I believe I can speak for PPKRC members and Lee at SBR. Thank you for the kind words…… 😀

All in PPKRC and SBR have been working deligently on building a karting program that meets the needs of the Family kart racer. Fun safe and all inclusive program that doesn’t break the bank.

We look forward to seeing you all next year….

I have to third what Ron and Kirk have said, PPKRC and SBR know how to put on a race! I’m new to karting so I can’t speak as to the other clubs/groups that run in the state, but I can’t imagine it gets much more fun than this last weekend. I had an absolute blast racing with you all in the TAG group, it seemed like every lap I was racing someone, and it was nothing but hard clean racing as far as I could tell. More than that though, the atmosphere was awesome, everyone seemed to have a permanent grin on there faces in the paddock, and there seemed to be a genuine camaraderie between the competitors. I went to the last Racing the Rockies series race at the The Track, and the difference was night and day. Yes the competition level was higher at The Track, but all the fun and the camaraderie was gone, on the pre-grid it was dead silent with no one talking to each other and after the race everyone seemed slightly pissed off and eager to get back to their trailers, at SBR everyone was shaking hands and talking to each other about what a great race they had. I know I can’t wait to be back next year, and I’ll be looking for that first win! (I think I might need to change my kart number to 6 though, that seems to be the secret 😉 )

On a final note, I want to personally and publicly thank Mike Manov, he was next to me in the paddock at my first race and he took it upon himself to be somewhat of a mentor to me. From helping to figure out the general flow and structure of a race day to offering me jetting advice, his help really has been invaluable to a newcomer like me and our sport could use more people like him. He even let me borrow his spare clutch for the day at this last race after mine failed during qualifying.
