I’m trying to get out of the hobby, and so posted an ad in Craigslist.
This is only tangentially about that. In searching for other similar karts to determine a value, I found MY ad scraped by hXXps://www.used.forsale/
Okay, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
What did surprise me was the description of the kart…which was completely made up and factually inaccurate(!)
It wasn’t the only kart listed there, either…the description was “My son purchased this and its just too fast for please note this item is bent in the middle as evidenced by the pictures.”
None of which was actually mentioned in the actual ad.
Anybody have any clue what’s going on here? It’s not for ad revenue, and there’d be no referral revenue in a Craigslist ad…

That is indeed strange, and frankly concerning. While I can’t really comment on how Craigslist or other sites utilize their ads or how they are shared, I wouldn’t be surprised if other sites out there are scraping data from Craigslist.
Applications like Qwilo do just that, putting Craigslist in a much more user-friendly format. However, to my knowledge most of these applications don’t “pirate” content, rather they aggregate it.
Perhaps keep an eye on it, and go from there?
