I was talking to some one who was telling me you must put new tires on before every race, one set per day of racing, to be competative in these series With the cost of tires ie $160.00 a set that makes a racing day over $200.00 is this information true?

In the Briggs class last year I only bought one set of front tires the whole year 80 bucks, probebly contributed too my 6th place finish and the 40 lbs
over weight but its still a blast too race. If ya wanta run up front get new
    tires every weekend>

If you run in the TaG class a new set can last you 3 races. It is the fronts that ear out fast (only 2 races).

If you want to run up front: yes a new set every week, but if you want to have fun, you can make them last.

    tires will cost you:

    MG FZ: $186
    YHC: $190
    Maxxis: $155

or go on the black market and get them for ~$155-$170/set

tires are a killer in this sport along with track/race day/registration fees.

Good basic rule of thumb. The slower your lap times are the longer the tires can last. That said, when racing I want to wear out my tires.
Jahawley, If new tires for every race was about to scare you away from it all togather. I would strongly suggest tring to concentrate on one class to get fast in. But I do like your mix of TAG and Mod animal as if I were to race two classes that mix would work well for running new tires in TAG every CSC race and using my one race old set in the mod class.
At least our races aren’t long enough to have make a pit stop or two and use 2-3 sets of new sets of tires in a race.
