InactiveThere were a lot of new faces this weekend at the Csc #2 event. Great to see new racers entering the sport! It looked to me that a lot of drivers just decided to enter a Csc event and run even though they may not have a lot of race experience. What a great thing to do! Going fast and learning race craft are two different aspects of the sport and the latter comes in the competition environment. I saw a lot of smiles in the scale line coming off the track, as well as a lot of high 5’s, bumping fists, etc… Saw many of the new racers getting support from the veteran racers as well as second year racers jumping in to offer what they have learned. Overall, looks like the racers that decided to jump in had a great time and did a good job.
Some of newer drivers were toward or in front. Pretty Cool!
Hope those same drivers and more can make Greeley this weekend, it will be a special event that will negate the “home field” advantage that is difficult to overcome. The activities going on around that event will be fun and certainly the race will be fun as well. After all, Beer garden, live music, great food, indoor rest rooms, displays, pace car, A.J. Noud / Doug Welch racing circuit, handmade “one off” trophy’s, carnival rides, memorable pre race ceramonies, umbrella girls!!!!! Did I mention beer garden?
Anyway, Great turn out and smooth running program @ the Csc #2. Looks like it is shaping up to be a great Csc racing season.
Angie, do you have an entry count for last weekend? Just curious.
Thanks Brad, Angie, Rusty, Dennis, Ian and the rest of the team.

InactiveI have to agree with Rick. Many new faces and rookies. It is nice to see those rookies willing to get out and race. That is where the fun is at.
Of course us experienced guys like the tight clean racing also. I enjoyed my time racing with Jack Nugent.

InactiveI am one of the newbs that ran in masters yesterday. What a great time! That was quite a rush running into the first turn with 17 other karts! I would have finished better in the main except for a flat left front that put me off track in lap 11. Still came back and finished 12 with three good tires. I probably could have been more agressive and stuck it in there more but in no way wanted to hurt anyone that is running for points.
It was this weekend one year ago that i was diagnosed with cancer, what a great way to celebrate one year of remission.
One of the other tough things during the day was having my son running Kid Karts right after Masters. He sat in his kart with all of his gear on ready to go while i raced and over heated himself before he got on track. He stayed well hydrated during the day but it just wore him out. I hope that next time we can mix up the schedule a bit.
Thanks to all
Ken

InactiveGood job Ken,
And glad that your Cancer issues are running in the clear now. That’s really the most important thing!
The first time I saw you guys sitting there together, I thought he was confused and going out with you guys. If that happens again I can stay close to him on the grid and still watch you guy’s and Roman run. I know Angie has quite a shuffle trying to accomodate every concern with schedule.
And good work on the track too! It’s good to see you enjoying a great sport with you kid and going out and living life to the drop yourself!
Oh yea, Just go out and judge your performance, if your faster, set up for, and make the pass. If your slower it’s going to happen to you. Roman tried the “stick it in” method in his first year and watched a few races from the back or the infield and excited a few racers who were in the championship hunt as well.

InactiveKen,
Anytime you need anyone to stay with your kid on grid while you race, you could ask just about anyone in any other CSC class and they would be more then happy to help out.
One of the first things I learned was that their is a ton of freinds and help at all the tracks!!

ParticipantKen,
Was that you that I was trying to catch with my own LEFT FRONT flat tire?!!! That’s too much! I think it went flat 2 or 3 laps into the race. Boy, was I bummed 😥 I was thinking the same thing – “Just make it to the end without sliding off on one of those sharp right handers or taking someone else out!!”
This was my first race also – what a blast!! I had a great time in the Heat Race. There’s a big difference in just driving around the track by yourself and trying to go as fast as possible while avoiding the mayhem.
Thanks to all the organizers for a great day! You realize real quickly on race day that you wouldn’t be able to do any of this without a ton of help from friends (Thanks Jack Warrington, Mike Jansen & Mike ?) and others!!

InactiveGood job ken!
Congrats on the helath issues. :sun:
Hey next time use my tent for shade if I am close to the grid.
B727plumber has a great comment: all these new karts being sold to rookies who just want to go out and play durring the weekdays and not race with us are missing the essence of the sport. The adrenilin and excitement rush of a race is tremendous. YOU non-racers are missing so much fun it is pathetic. Get your butts out there and come race with us. 😥
I think there are quite a few fo these guys just playing-booring racing yourself. :idn:

ParticipantHey Jeff and Ken,
To both I want to say congrats on your first race, you both did well and your fears of making an a_ _ out there was unfounded.
Jeff, the other Mike was Mike Frank. There are plenty of people out racing that will help you, all you have to do is ask!And while we’re thanking people I want to say thank you Brad for helping get my kart repaired. Without some of your tools I’d have been sitting with a broke flywheel. Rick Schmidt for helping me out Friday & throughout the weekend. I promise I’ll become a better mechanic since you took me behind the woodshed! AJ and Roy for your chassis knowledge and finally Mike Frank, who helped wrench that kart to finish the heat and the 20 lap main. The day didn’t start that promising that’s for sure!

InactiveYou weren’t supposed to tell anyone about that Mike!

ParticipantMike J,
Thanks for the kind words!! It’s going to be a fun season 😀
Mike Frank sure was a great help in getting my tires changed, etc. I was glad to have him around – I learned alot!
Speaking of Brad, he and Ron certainly got my kart back into running shape after my DNR in GJT. Brad really went above and beyond to get me back in the game – He stands behind his engines! I also appreciated all his help in the days leading up to Sunday’s race. Where else, other than IMI, can you get parts fabricated in short order, etc to keep things running on race day??
