ParticipantWhat a bummer,
We wanted to hit one of the 2008 Pro Kart or Gatorz races there!
Good for all of you who got to race there. Most I’ve spoken with (who’ve driven there) say it’s the best kart track the’ve ever raced on. We wanted to see for ourselves. Oh well. We knew it would be closing, more than likely after the 2008 season, just waited too long. Snooze you loose I guess.
Ekn link to story.

ParticipantYeah, I was bummed to read that story also. The good news is that the Morans seem determined to come back bigger and better than ever.
After watching the excitement of the SuperNats, we were on the fence trying to decide whether to do the Florida Winter Tour again or to do both the Pro Kart Series and the Gatorz Rotax Challenge of the Americas. Both the PKC and Gatorz series had planned stops at Moran with two weekends being back to back. I’m sure both series will find and schedule a suitable backup. However, it is a little late in the game so I pulled the trigger and signed up for the FWT. Besides, the FWT is introducing the KF classes to America. I’m very excited about running these new engines. I think of them as Tag’s on steroids. The KF2 and KF3 classes run at lighter weights than Tag Sr and Tag Jr, have more horsepower and are reported to be more reliable. To me, that spells serious fun. We’re going to run all six weekends (12 races). If anybody else is interested in doing some or all of the FWT give me a call. I might have extra room to haul karts/equipment.
Stay warm,

ParticipantThe best race experience we have ever had was at Moran 3 years ago. Next to Stacy’s lay-out and smoothness, Moran was a great place to race. Hanging out in Palm Springs every night was not too shabby either. 😆
Watching Matt gain confidence in taking turn 1 clockwise evry lap was worth the price of admission. By the main on Sunday he never lifted going into a banked 90 at 88mph. It was priceless. Barry and I just stood there laughing and worndering why it took till Sunday. Guess if I had the balls to drive a kart I could find out. Somethings are better off left unsloved.
Sorry to see her close, but Rocky will build another masterpiece. Thanks for the memories Moran family :spiral

ParticipantStacey,
I don’t think a lot of the newer racers here in Colorado know what you really have under the hood. The Super Nationals brought that to a lot of peoples attention.
You and your brother need to at least run Tag or something. You may be the only one who can stop Cunninghams total domination next year! Get in there and mix it up. I’ll help cover while you’re on track if it helps. I’m not sure I totally agree with the “shouldn’t race against customers” thing. But that’s your call.
I know some customers choose Aj Noud because he is capable of going to any National level race and running in the top 10 or better. That sells.
Anyway. You have to be in a position to capitalize on luck. No one else will ever win the last Pro Moto race at Moran. Good work!!!

InactiveStacey, Your right- I’m a lucky guy. My back’s never been the same as well as my head! (that’s my story and i’m stickin to it)
I remember one time coming home from Moran when someone’s little brother (who will remain nameless) fell asleep and drove off the road. I remember seeing my life flash before my eyes with a 300 lb man floating in the air along the roof. There was also a time when I got a ticket coming home from Moran. Also, i dont know how you guys beat us from Grand Junction to the track. I had Buxman’s car red lined the whole way. And then my ultimate low was when Zartarian (sp?) pulled the ultimate slide job on me to take a 3rd place on the last lap at the Star’s race a few year’s ago.
It’s too bad it’s going away that by far was the most difficult track I’ve ever drove, right up there with pat’s acre’s in oregan. (Though you can tell why I wouldn’t want to go back there.)
Im sure the Morans will build a track even better next time, until then I will be practicing for our next race to CA. and the kart track.AJ Noud

Mikey, that’s just too funny…and true. I wish I could take your advise, but I seem to be inflicted with something. :loony: However, I’m excited about going to Florida – Jesse for the racing but me for the WARMTH. I won’t be taking my snow shovel with me!
You ought to throw a kart in my trailer and fly to Florida with Tyler or Sydney for a weekend of racing. It would put hair on their chest. Oh wait a minute, Tyler may not want that. 😀
Thanks for the support. We will keep you posted.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your family as well.

ParticipantIf I go back to Vegas next year I need to be a little more prepared, maybe chase Roman and a few of the guys around beforehand… Running the Moto Package I sure felt like the outcast but I sure had fun!of course a bent axle on the first lap of the main didn’t help.. Have to go ICC next time, the more rubber that got laid down the harder the Moto became to drive… Next year we all need to rent one of those gigantic Tents and have a “Colorado Pit” with like 20 guys under it.. who cares what you drive jsut get your butts under the tent and lets drive…
AJ, you just have to know the hot line to Moran… unfortunatly it always seems to go thru Vegas and gets really spendy….. Hope the baby is doing well..
Everyone have a great Christmas…

InactiveStacey,
That makes it harder to take, you even stop and played some tables in vegas?!? I drove straight through- those penny slots just arent attractive anymore! The baby is beautiful, I just hope she can drive as good as Sabre some day.
