InactiveStacey,
We don’t run a Gecker built motor anymore, but the last motor we had built by Gecker had peak h.p. of 10.3 at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 11.33 at 4500 rpm. I don’t think Gecker builds the absolute strongest Animals in the U.S., that award may go to Precision Cams or Uncle Franks, but his engines are pretty solid. Gecker is in Jacksonville, FLa. and at sea level, so if the mini max is 13 at sea level that would indicate to me that the mini max is likely the stronger motor.
The ability to pull restrictor plates and generate 19 h.p. seems to make the perfect argument for a TAG novice motor !

ParticipantI agree with you Jeff. It would be nice to have a transition class from Jr. to the TaG classes. There are some racers in TaG that could have benefited from a slightly slower class to get used to the speed and horsepower of a full size TaG. That mini max you said is only putting out 13 HP? Wow, i think my Sonik puts out close to if not 30 HP and the Italstrem puts out a ridiculous 31 HP. I’m not sure what engines should be used for this “junior junior” class but the mini max looks like a good candidate.

ParticipantWe had 4 Jr-1’s this weekend all Mini Maxs, we have 2 more in town but they were gone this weekend. What I really like is like Brad said they can be run for at least 2 full season without touching the motor, plus what is nice for me is that I have my hands full running the races, helping both of my kids, putting out fires etc. My daughter checks her own tires, puts in the fuel, lubes the chain grabs me to get it off the stand, pushes the start button and drives off to the grid.
