Now that it’s done, am I looking forward to a low(?) key event, the CSC this weekend. As with any high strung event, there are so many highs and also, too many lows. Most of which you have no control over.
Can anyone who saw it not like what Conner New did? A fouled plug in qualifying (he got maybe 100′) meant the kid started every heat in the back. MiniMax has to be one of the hardest classes to pass in and this kid passed karts every time out. Most of us would not have been able to drive a kart with an axle bent as badly as his was in the main, yet drive it he did.
What about Cole? His wreck was scary. The tire mark on the helmet has got to make us all thankful for the quality of our safety equipment. Hang in there Cole, next year is your year.
Brandon Moore had good times and bad times. Always quick, he had bad luck more than once. But he always had a smile and all the boys had as much fun playing together as they did racing.
The look on Ryan’s face after the LCQ was heart breaking. I don’t know who hurt more, dad or Ryan. But the look on both of them Saturday was even better. Once they found that they were in, dad made a mad dash home to get the kart and in the main they were.
The results don’t show how good FreezeMan did. More than once he was in the pointy end of the field. But at this level, the driving can be very aggressive and we got to control our emotions better. Or at least hide the retaliation better. Roman did good but suffered from the same mistake we made. 55″ is not 140cm.
Greg had one of the worst outings we have ever had. At least he is still walking, sort of.
With any of these big events, it’s always a great joy to see old friends from around the country. I had a chance to see some guys I haven’t seen in some time, others I saw a few months back. I also had a chance to spend some time off track with one of my oldest racing friends. I made new firends, the Jamaicans for example. The kid would come down to our tent and play with the other boys. And while language was a barrier, smiles were not. The kids had a great time.
I also had a chance to meet many customers from all over the country whom I’ve only talked with on the phone or processed their orders. If it wasn’t for our great and loyal customers, we wouldn’t have been there at all. It is them I owe the biggest thanks.
There are many stories I don’t know or maybe only partials, maybe others will get a chance to tell them. It was a great event, it was a tiring event, but it was an EVENT.
