Does anyone know if the kid(s) involved in the crash in junior class yesterday are ok or not? I know it was a pretty scary crash with a kart getting upside down. Hope they’re doin alright!

It was #08 BJ Meyer. It looked scary for sure! He was looked at by the paramedics and I was told he was ok, just shaken up. He didn’t race the main, but I do know that someone ( I assume his dad ) wasn’t happy we gridded him to the back due to bringing out the red flag. He left the tower before I could ask how BJ was doing. BJ had run up over the top of Xavier, who was also a little sore and shaken, but was also ok.

I am sorry that we did not do a better job of letting everyone know by announcements as to the outcome of the incident. We will try to keep you informed a little better next time. If anyone knows how BJ and his kart are doing, please let us know.

Nick Burton went upside down, actually all the way over, back on to his wheels, during qualifying in the Junior 1 class, after he had already logged the fast lap. He went on to win the Heat race and the Main event. Good Job Nick.

Good job, too, to the rest of the Junior 1 field for quickly recognizing the red flag and responding correctly!

I checked in with them after the crash. BJ was ok, just a little shaken up. His helmet was cracked in a number of places. It was totalled. Apparently he came out of the kart, hit his head pretty hard on the asphalt, but the helmet did it’s job and protected him pretty well. He was sitting on the hay bales for the start of the Junior 1 main showing some of the other kids his helmet. His kart was damaged from the crash and his father indicated that it would be a hustle to get it ready for Grand Junction. Hopefully we will see them in Grand Junction, but if not, I have no doubt he will be back for the June 13th race at IMI.
