ParticipantSKUSA ANNOUNCES RULE CHANGE REGARDING WEIGHTS FOR ROTAX ENGINES IN TAG SENIOR AND TAG MASTER
June 5, 2013
Over the years, SKUSA has taken pride in the fairness and parity of their rules, especially as they apply to allowing multiple engine brands in their TaG Senior and TaG Master classes. And, as many of these drivers have witnessed over the last few racing seasons, there have been advancements in the Rotax program that have caused a disparity that needs to be addressed.
To this end, a team of racing experts was chosen to spend two days at the Grand Junction, Colorado kart track to evaluate the relative performance of Rotax vs. its main competitor, Leopard. The results of this testing have initiated the following SKUSA rule change, effective immediately:
As of June 5, 2013, the minimum weight for competitors with a Rotax engine in TaG Senior is increased to 375 pounds, and in TaG Master is increased to 395 pounds.
As SKUSA rule changes require a 30-day written notice to competitors prior to taking effect, this announcement serves to offer as much notice as possible to allow all TaG driver testing programs to reflect these changes prior to the next few rounds of SKUSA competition, specifically for the Pro Tour national series and the Rocky Mountain PKC regional series.
Any decision to adjust a rule in the middle of a season is a major one, and although SKUSA feels it is a correct and necessary one at this time, it has not been taken lightly. After all of the discussion, due diligence and this recent track testing, the results will surely be fairer and more competitive racing. - AuthorPosts
