ParticipantWe’re hoping to get in our first race at IMI this weekend, but won’t have much time to do set-up. Can anyone offer a starting point on gearing for a Rotax Jr?

ParticipantYea, and how about rotax masters? You know us old fat guys need to know what gear to run as well. Maybe Dane and Duff can help.

Participant12/74 for the geezer class should start you right. Try it from there.

Participant12/74….ok thanks. What about for a 13 drive gear?

Participant13/80 is close to 12/74. You do run a higher risk of breaking the sprocket on the ground by running the larger 80 tooth gear. You’d probably be fine though.

ParticipantTry something in the 13/80 range. We run 13/76-77 in the senior class. We are now stocking the kevlar sprockets.

ParticipantFor those of you who don’t know Mike, he’s trying to pull the wool over your eyes with references to being a geezer or a fat guy! If I was still running Masters, I’d probably tell him to run 13:70 just to give the real geezers a chance!

ParticipantHey! I am over 40 (ouch) but weigh 205 (6’4″)(chicken and tuna are my best friends and what’s dessert?) :bs: be gentle!
Call Stacy in Grand Junction since they have a few Rotax jr’s running there. That’s the best advice I can give.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the track this weekend. Last time I ran with the Sr’s I got my arse handed to me @ GJ 😥 I’ll leave them to Jack Warrington…

ParticipantA rotax junior should be about four or five teeth less than a senior, so start on a 13/75 or so…..
