I’m probably extremely unusual as I’m buying a pretty nice race kart and I’ve only driven a kart twice in my life. Once at that little tourist oriented kart track in Estes Park and once at the Track in Dacono.
Poles show that most American men think they are great drivers. A cursory glance at accident statistics and the number of moving violations proves that we can’t all be as good as we think we are.
I’m hoping this gives me some idea of where I stand. If I’m bad, I hope this will make me good. If I’m good, I want to get better.
Part of the reason I’m doing this is I’ve seen first hand how bad a man’s driving can get as he gets older. My father was driving long after he had become a menace to himself and others. I rode in the car with him quite a few times and I’m lucky to be alive. I’m hoping this will prolong my driving skills.

You don’t have to justify getting into karting to us. It is fun. And yeah, most people think they know how to drive when in reality, they have no idea. Welcome.
