I’m looking for some gearing help. I purchased a kid cart for my son and bought this one for me to ride with him. I stumbled on this cart and asked the guy if this would work for me. He said yes and I got it. While we were loading it he mentioned this would work for my sons next cart also. That got me thinking it must be a junior kart. Oh well I can squeeze in it. It was geared for a 125 pounder and I’m a 200 pounder so I need to regear it. It has a 15 tooth clutch and a 59 tooth sprocket. It came with a 14 and 12 tooth clutch along with a 67 and 70 tooth sprocket. Any ideas on what combo would be best?

3.2-4.2 to 1 depending on what total weight and track you are running on.

Never been there, I know it is a short track. You have a tachometer so keep the rpm below 5700 on the longest straight for a flathead Briggs. I would guess about 4.5 to one to start.

I swithed gears and need to extend my chain now. Whats the best way to do this? Any ideas on where in the Springs I would get kart parts?

Lance check out the ‘links’ section on this website to see all of the local vendors and shops that can help you out. You may want to purchase a new chain rather than try to extend your current one. Chains are fairly cheap at around 20 bucks or so.

I can’t get the links button to work. Thanks for the help. I’ll look into a new chain.

These are the local shops that come to mind in no particular order.

Find someone running the Briggs down there and hook up for some help or a track day to get you pointed in the right direction. It may save you a lot of heart ache in the long run.
