    Jim K.,

are you putting one on again this yr?

Would be a great idea with a larger track.

    Rich,
After all the excitement last year at the Grand Prix, this years event has grown 3-fold. (http://www.gpdenver.com) Parking has become an issue for the weekend, and the kart track (mini-grand-prix) is more popular than ever.
The bad news is I don’t have any time to run the exhibition race that we did last year, nor the parking space for the trailers.
I tried to get a bigger lot to set up a full blown shifter/TaG club race and the cost was too much.
The good news: The Track at Centennial will be set up Aug 1-14th.
We are booking private corporate parties, so customers will be able to have an event downdown. Currently we are 50% sold out, so if anyone is interested, please e-mail us soon.
I hope to be set up with enough time to join you all at IMI on the 31st.
    Best of luck,
    Jim

    Rich,
Sounds like parking and space is going to ba an issue. Just an idea, Why don’t you or someone set up a rental kart race for Colorado Karters, Kid Karters, Tuners, TAG Racers, Shifter Racers….
Use the equipmet that will be down there, bring your own helmut and suit and sweet talk Jim into slotting time that would show off the talent of drivers we have in this city. Hell, he may even buck up for a trophy or two.
You and Jansen might even finish a race under full power if you were to drive the Sodi Rentals. 😀

    Curt,

I think I’ll pass. next thing you know I’ll bicycle a corner, get taken out from behind or have a dead battery issue.

Then again, I didn’t have to use pom poms from my sister since i DID finish in Junction!

I’m in. How ’bout them costs Jim? What about the “pain and suffering” discount since the track had an overrun? 8)

    Get er done boys.
Count me in for another stellar tuner race. As long as Rich Thompson is retired from karting I have a fighters chance. I know I can kick Edwards butt, and Angie was a back marker before she put her helmut on last year. The rest of the tuners are just a bunch of talkers like Welch, Ray, Reed, Lewis, Doman, Courter, and just about every other old man who thinks he/she can drive.

Jim, do I need to talk more smack, or do we have a full field yet?

Hey, I tried to get in one last year but by the time I got to the grid, there was already an ass in every kart! (I meant to say butt, sorry, my bad)

    Wow……..
Everyone on the same chassis, same motor and same basic setup……………… Sounds like Spec. class racing to me!
    I LIKE IT!

Maybe there will be a set available this year for me to run in the tuner class!

Are retired racers turned tuners allowed?

    Doug,

Why the heck are you retired?

Unfortunately, house purchases and racing do not mix very well, so the racing got the boot this year. If stock moto continues to grow and attract a crowd, you may see me make an appearance in that class before too long.

    Curt,

Although I am still not speaking to you…. :horn @Curt Kistler wrote:

I was wondering if you have found someone to help you organize the event? I am not volunteering, mind you, with CSC #5, and SSGP coming up, as well as the other GP activities, and inlaws coming to town… but I was hoping that someone had stepped up to put on the show!
You know it will be fun!!

I scoured the internet to find this smilie for you… :k

    Angie,
I am sorry for calling you a back marker, and Doug an old man, and Mikey Edwards slow…. I guess this years race will be the tell all of who’s who in the Colorado Karting Community.
Having said that, I did speak with the Team Doghouse Skipper and Company last week about this years event. As it stands today, and things will change, this is what we have:

Friday, 8-12-05 from 12 – 4 pm the Mini Grand Prix Track will be available for this years event.

Each paid entry fee will come with two general admission tickets to the Denver Grand Prix on Friday, and all the track time you can squeeze in during qualifing sessions. (12 to 3)

Each time out onto The Track you will be timed on the scoring system. Your fastest lap will be how will be lined up for your heat race.

We will be qualifing from 12:00 – 3:00 and running heat races from 3:00 – 3:30. Finals will be from 3:30 – 4:00.

Final race or races will be determined by participation. IE: If we get a full field of ladies, this will be a race. Full field of tuners (non racers), this will be a race. Full field of existing or past racers, this will be a race and so on.

It’s really going to be left up to lap times, number of participants, scheduled time allotment, weather….. Like I said, things will change as we get closer to the date and time Jim has set up for us.

The cost has yet to be set. I expect to see a post by The Track at Centennial to determine the remainder of information I have not mentioned. At IMI last Sunday I was approached by at least 10 people interested in being part of this event this year. So stay tuned to this thread for more information.

PS: You sure were friendly to me last Sunday with doughnuts, parts, pit spot and just plain old fun for being so mad at me. 😉

    Curt
