Please join me in congratulating Tyler Prins for securing the IMI/TTAC, Jr. II Animal series championship. Tyler worked hard this season and it shows in a 6 second average drop in lap times!
As I advertised at the beginning of the season the championship winner would receive a NEW Briggs Animal engine compliments of Mile High Power Supply LLC (MHPS Racing) and Briggs Motorsports.
Although I would like to present this to Tyler and Les at the banquet I have to leave town this weekend. Just the same congratulations are in order. Great job Tyler and Les ❗

This past year was fun and we would like to thank Dave at MHPS for building a very reliable and consistent motor that ran great every race day and practice days. All I had to do was change the oil. This motor was a Gen 2 Animal that was built to be every bit as reliable as any of the engines out there. Our motor ran up to 7800 rpm all year with no problems at all.
Mike, I don’t think Tyler will want to let it go! Thanks again to you for setting up this chassis “race ready”. The only thing I had to mess with was the front track and tire pressure the whole year. It has been a very good chassis and we hope to use it as long as we can.
Russ, It has been fun watching Taylor and Ty racing all year. Most races were very close and we had no idea Ty would be competitive enough to win races this year.
Thanks to the rest of the Colorado karting community for the tips and encouragement. It has made it fun to come out on race day.
For those who don’t know what class we were running, it was the JR2 Briggs class in the IMI/TTAC series. This class is a very good class for us after racing a few times last year in JR1 Animal. It was a step up in speed with his personal best time at IMI of 58.8 sec. Not bad for the lowly WKA stock Briggs Animal (at 285lbs).
I would like to start another discussion soon about JR2 to see if there are any interested in stepping up to JR2. With JR1 Honda slowing down next year, those that are a little older and/or more experienced may find JR2 would be an option without finding a whole new package. The Briggs Animal is very successful in the Midwest and Eastern part of the US for oval, sprint and road racing. The Briggs World formula is popular in the West as a Jr and Sr “TAG” style engine package that provides an inexpensive and competitive class for some very close racing. As far as the rumors that a Briggs is unreliable and breaks down all the time, I just have not seen that. I have 2 stock Gen 1’s (one of which Tyler won his first race with) , a Gen 2 that Ty raced with after the 2nd race this year, and a Gen 3 World Formula that I use and have not had one breakdown. Just tune and change oil, it has been that simple.

It was great to see the tough competition between those two. They had some great races, and some rough races. But I think they are both better for it. I can say honestly, that even on the bad days, Taylor loved being out on the track with that cool looking #8.
Good Luck in ’08
