ParticipantAre they really running a CART race this year? Probably the “bon voyage” tour.
I also heard that about a kart race!
Rumour has it the winner in each class gets a fetzer valve trophy.

8)Sure hope those fetzer valves are prepared properly before being handed out as trophies. 😆

“It’s all ballbearings nowadays! Now, you prepare that fetzer valve with some Three-In-One oil and some gauze pads. And I’m gonna need about ten quarts of antifreeze, preferably Prestone. No… no, make that Quaker State.”June 9, 2004 at 1:04 pm #47210Anonymous
InactiveGeorge Durdin eluded to something similar a while ago http://www.thecoloradokarter.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=546
Not really sure if the dates coincide, but that would be kick ass if they did.

InactiveThere were races last year and they seemed to be a big hit, so I’m assuming it’ll happen again this year. Too bad we only get to work them, not race them!

ParticipantLast year there were 3 kart racers there I think, Phillip Metzger, Andy Lange and myself. There were a lot of car racers there. The entry fee was kind of steep, $1250.00 per entry, but the proceeds went to charity. The kart racers really beat up on the rest of the entries, with Andy finishing third, Phillip second and myself winning the event. It was a lot of fun. All three of us get in again this year, so I am really looking forward to the event this year. If you can, everybody should come out and join in, great cause and fantastic racing.

InactiveI think Barry Lewis of Billet Performance kating was pretty involved in organizing the karting portion of the Denver Grand Prix last year. It was a hay bale track on parking lot near the pepsi center. I wasn’t there but I heard it was a popular event. I haven’t heard anything about it yet this year. I will ask Barry when I see him on Friday if he is involved again this year.

InactiveMike is pretty much right.
I ran the scoring (such as it was) at last years event, and it was a charity event with a very steep entry. The idea was to get corporations/local businesses to put up the entries for their employees or others.
There was also a celebrity race. two people I recall were Peter Boyles and Idel Arikawa.
The track was kinda short, but it was a fun track to run.
There is a similar event planned for this year, but what form and location it will take is uncertain right now.

ParticipantThe word as of yesterday afternoon was that there will be a charity/celebrity race at the Pepsi Center just like last year. The date is August 7,with a rain date of August 8.
Jim Keesling has stepped up and made it possible for the foundation to put on the event this year. I am sure he will make an announcement as soon as everything is locked up. Let’s all be prepared to help if needed.
Have not heard anything about George and the WKA event he alluded to in an earlier post. Maybe he has some news coming.Rusty
