Champ car drivers and owners team up in karts

I was lucky enough to be at the right place (Mini Grand Prix track), at the right time (Saturday afternoon), when some of the Champ car drivers and team owners started showing up. They were arriving to race against each other in a team challenge. As it turns out, I had the honor of scoring the races.

Michel Jourdain Jr. with Bob Sutton for RuSport (substitution of Michel Jourdain Sr. with Rick Bolton was made for the main event)
Bruno Junqueira with Paul Newman for Newman-Haas Racing
Alex Tagliani with Mickelwright for Rocketsports Racing
Justin Wilson with Eric Bacherlart for Mi-Jack Conquest Racing

Because it was a team event, points were given for the finishing positions and team member points were tallied for the final score. In the end it was Justin Wilson and Eric Bachelart of Mi-Jack Conquest Racing for the win. Followed by Bruno Junqueira with Paul Newman for Newman-Haas Racing in second, and Alex Tagliani with Mickelwright for Rocketsports Racing in third.

Wish I had pictures, but since I had no idea – I didn’t even have a camera handy. I know one thing, Jimmy Vasser got the #9 rental kart around the track a whole lot faster than I did during our “Tuner Challenge” on Friday!

Jimmy Vasser is a great guy. Met him on a plane to Vegas once. Class act.
