ParticipantSaturday I’ll be there and talking to Jack Warrington he will be there too. Of course, we’re only lowly TAG pilots so you might not want to bother

InactiveI’ll be at Bandimere, just not karting. I’ll be at the BMWCCA auto-x up in the main parking lot.
I was out at Bandimere today though. First time out there. I could’t believe how much different it was compared to IMI. 😯
Damn rough on the kart as well. Broke a seat strut towards the end of the day, without any lead on the seat. 😥
To the TaG drivers, what are some competitive times out there? I was in the 42/43’s and dipped into the 41’s after I fixed my oversteer problem.
I’ll try to come down and say Hi if I can get some free time during the auto-x.

InactiveI just starting my karting career and i raced the rental karts at Bandimere on sat for my first time and i love it. I ran a 52:23 second lap and i think that is pretty good. Do u have any tips on how to handle the sharp turn in the far part of the track? im having trouble with it.
ThanksMarch 22, 2004 at 1:35 pm #46508Anonymous

ThanksEverybody has trouble with it. Except the shifters. They have the luxury of being able to drop down a gear or two to help them power out of the turns.
The Widowmaker, as its called – not the best name, but there you have it – that name should go to the old turn 2 – is the toughest section of the entire track. I don’t believe that there’s a “fast” way through it, but some lines are faster than others.
The best way to defeat that turn is to practice it. Like many turns you need to concentrate on apexing as late as possible to avoid running afoul of the berm on the outside. You have to figure out a way to carry as much speed out of the turn as you can – not easy. Other than that, you just practice the turn. Go up there and watch the better drivers take the turn and note where they start braking and where they turn in. Once you have a decent line figured out, work it over and over, both on the track and in your mind till you can take the same, fast line through that corner every time. THEN you have to concern yourself with racing through that turn. It’s common to see drivers try to outbrake others to pass in that corner. That gets a little dangerous, but also makes you think about your chosen line as it relates to vlnerability to passing.
In other words, practice.
Good luck.

InactiveThe widow maker is definently hard. Most of the time I brake late and slide throught the turn, it’s easier to do with the hard spec TAG tires. Make sure to do the majority of your braking before making the turn.
40-41 second laps is what I’ve been doing at Bandi. I anticipate runing TAG senior as well. My average lap times are always in the mid 41’s.
