I’m running a poll to see if anyone is interested in running an Animal class (WKA or IKF based) and a track that is interested in running it.

This would provide a more cost effective means for the new comers or people who want to race but can’t afford the more expensive chassis/engine combos.

To sweeten the pot, MHPS Racing will award a New “Gen” Animal engine to the season winner of the class.

Brad & Jim…any interest in this?

    Thanks,
    Dave

This question has been asked several times already, and the sealed Honda was put in place. Using Animal may used at club level but only few. Also, using animal it results in pocket book racing and the sealed Honda is just that sealed.

Thanks for the input Dave. I’m not suggesting replacing the Honda but rather adding a class for those who prefer the Briggs Animal for a club level class.

Yea that was asked at the December meeting, my son was running a briggs and we couldn’t afford it even at the club level. Most of the other kids in class have moved up to another class. I am only posting a response because alot of money later and no more hair to pull out because I had asked the same question (s) :yesno :money

The only possible class would be jr2. There currently is not one. If you can get 4-5 in this class I’m sure Brad would let you run.

Would a sealed world formula work? I don’t think that 15 hp is too much for this class. No need to build up an Animal to stand up to hard racing. No broken rods, and it has electric start. (Dads would like that, there the ones that lug around the external starter). After adding up purchasing the header and clutch it is not much more money and more durable. Just a thought.

So, I spoke with Brad today. If we get 5 or 6 serious takers for an Animal division IMI will add the class. Looks like the interest is focused on a Jr. 12 – 15 class.

The season winner will get a new “Gen” Animal from us so let me know if you are interested in racing the motor.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Hey Les……….If you end up running a different class and don’t need that starter I threw in when you bought Tyler’s kart, I would be interested in buying it back.

    Let me Know

Les,If they do have an jr2 Animal class it should be BOX STOCK. No need to build them. They will run ALL season in that form. OR WF .

I agree. I was thinking WKA “rule based”. We could also use last years CSC rules with some updates to allow for the new 2007 parts if people want to use them. Just a thought….

My son will be 11 in June and ran the animal last year. I think he would be fine in Jr2 I would like him to run this class if it happens. Since the participants may be from the animal class of last year, it may be easier to use the old CSC/IMI rules with the updated parts since the new animals come with them (The PVL ign in particular). If the PVL is allowed, I think that we should allow the WF ignition for the rev limiter to protect a stock motor from blowing a hole in the side. There should be no difference in performance, just the protection.

Definitely something to go over Saturday evening..provided there is enough interest to run the class.

So it looks like there are 5 people interested in the Animal class. Are there anymore out there……?

Not to confuse the current topic, BUT.
Uncle Frank will be introducing his OHV Blue Wazom this summer at around $850.00.
The flathead Blue was a good value with a means for controlling parity, I am just thinking that the new Blue may just pan out to be even more popular.
MHPS, I am glad to see someone pushing Briggs stuff in the Denver area market, Good Luck.

I think there is about 3 million people around here that don’t yet know racing a kart is with in there budget, and none of them will be at the Go kart meeting.
