Awesome show with the Nascar Busch series today in Mexico, besides the one too many yellow flags throughout the race. I wish the Nascar series in general could dedicate more of their calendar towards road tracks…it could definitely improve competitiveness with even more challenge than an oval tracks *sighs*
My respect to JPM, he showed what driving was all about 😉

We missed the race because we were at the track practicing. It sounds like it was an exciting, controversial, race. No doubt road courses make for exciting and challenging racing for drivers. In particular, kart racers can identify with road courses.

I?m glad Nascar includes some road courses. However, you can?t ignore the fact that for a spectator it is more difficult to watch all the action on a road course than it is on an oval track. The popularity of Nascar?s oval tracks over road course racing is largely due to the oval tracks being more spectator friendly. More spectators means more advertisers which means more revenue.

MX went through the same thing over the last generation. MX has been around for a long time but when someone decided to bring it into a stadium (birth of Supercross) the popularity and money increased exponentially. Supercross is more spectator friendly than motocross. Some purists don?t see Supercross as a legitimate form of ?true outdoor motocross? racing. The Supercross racers, promoters, teams and sponsors are laughing all the way to the bank.

I guess these car races don’t have a black flag to wave at cars taking out other cars? 😛 LOL

For a me as a Colombian its always a true pleasure to watch Juan Pablo show his talent. My Family in Colombia told me the whole country stopped to watch the race. and of course to celebrate!
I could not believe the incident at the pits stop… and he was able to make it from 19th to 1st …..
I also agree that Nascar should have more of this road races…. lots of fun I am not to much in to the whole oval racing, but certainly those V8 in a road course are lot of fun to watch!
    Viva JPM :win

Absolutely…in regards the contact between Pruett and Montoya, I have to blame it on the team itself. They have both drivers on the radio, and surely a plan for the race. Montoya came in a little aggressive, that’s granted, but Pruett closed the door generating contact…it could’ve definitely been avoided by radio altogether. Sad to see Pruett get the worse part of the ordeal, he was clearly setting a pace like Montoya. Felicitaciones Eddie, gran trabajo Colombiano! (yeah, that pitstop was uncalled for…I guess that move would’ve been more clear to his advantage if he didn’t have to deal with all those yellow flags, since the rest had to stop regardless for the last pitstop). Scott Pruett came back from 17th to 5th to the end!!!…Ganassi boys sure are tough.
You are right Larry, I can see why it is so much oval driven…sorta get the most for the money while watching it. How about splitting the calendar half and a half? (oval-road)

Champ car and Indy (prior to breakup) used to have a nice mix of road courses and ovals in V8’s… :idn:

I know…that series is really awesome, I am still pissed at Tracy for that last move on Bourdais here downtown…he really ticks me lol. Seriously, road tracks is just better. Related to that in the Champ car series…

“MONTEREY, Calif. (March 10, 2007) – The Champ Car World Series is known around the world as the American interpretation of Formula 1-style racing, but today a Champ Car driver in the brand-new Panoz DP01 chassis raised the bar on anything a F1 car had ever done at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Three-time and defending Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald’s Cosworth/Panoz/Bridgestone) demolished the existing track record at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with 10 minutes left in today’s final test session, with his time of 1:05.880 (122.295 mph) breaking the mark set in 2006 by Ricardo Zonta in the Toyota F1 machine when it came over to turn some laps as part of the Monterey Historics Festival.

Bourdais not only broke the record but became the first driver ever to run a lap around the fabled California layout in less than 66 seconds. For his efforts, Bourdais and his Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing squad were awarded $5,000 by Champ Car for breaking the F1 record.”

    “All the Aussie GP previews
    Saturday 10th March 2007

Check out all the teams’ previews for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix…
McLaren – Fernando Alonso is already targeting the victory in his first grand prix as a McLaren driver, while Lewis Hamilton is expecting a challenging race…
Honda – Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button may have a few doubts about Honda’s chances of winning the Australian GP, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to challenge for the victory…
BMW – Having already announced that BMW are targeting fourth place in this year’s Constructors’ Championship, Nick Heidfeld starts the Australian GP determined to finish in the points..
Spyker – Spyker drivers Christijan Albers and Adrian Sutil may not have done as much testing during the winter as other teams, but both drivers are ready for the Aussie GP…”

    My take…watch out for Kimi…

    In the ALMS
“Intersport Racing and its Creation-Judd look to challenge Audi’s LMP1 dominance in 2007.
Since 2000, Audi is a perfect 7-0 at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and looks to make it eight straight next week in the 55th running of America’s greatest sports car race. There may be extra reason to worry in the Audi camp as Intersport Racing will roll out its new Judd-powered Creation for a full season of LMP1 competition.

The diesel-powered Audi R10 TDI was 8-for-8 last year with wins at Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But in the last two events of the season ? Petit Le Mans and the Monterey Sports Car Championships ? the Creation prototype proved a worthy challenger. Defending P1 co-champion Dindo Capello doesn’t expect that to change as Intersport continues to work with and develop the car throughout 2007″

I can’t believe nobody has stepped up to the Audi team yet..and when I say that I mean a constant battle between makes. 8 years in row…
With all this huge car makes out there, don’t you think it would be a great advertisement campaign from a potential challenger, and if its american even better. Imagine, FORD bringing back the GT to win Le mans…in the P1 class. Don’t ask me how, but the idea works perfect, don’t you think?

Hey everyone! It has been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been following the calendar. Awesome show in Greeley btw, hoping the best for the driver involved in the accident. That bump was, from the beggining, something that should’ve been observed and perhaps avoided, my humble opinion. But it was great racing altogether.
Now with the budget and time to get the Scuderia Prodrive proyect a reality. There is a couple of options already, and perhaps ItalKart will be the choice…we’ll find out soon. I am very excited to solidify the vision of joining the Colorado Karting Club and be ready with a competitive machine for next years championship. This, of course, is just the beggining. I mean this to be a long time proyect, and perhaps a lifetime, at least as a sport. We will be more than happy just to participate, and get to know everyone in and out of the track. The 2008 campaign of course will be focused on the development of the machine, while looking optimist. I’ve been out and observed a few test and tunes (while we rent some lol) and the atmosphere is just awesome. I will report soon with my updates, to perhaps get a mentor for much needed information. I am open to trade numbers and such to start talking as well. See you soon!

Formula one is hot now,as we aproach Nurburging. Alonso has stopped sharing information of his set ups with the sister car, which makes it more challenging for Hamilton now. Good o’l rivalry…like old times. It definitely gave edge to the brit, a tremendous one if you ask me. First year in F1, and voila…12 points ahead so far, all podiums. I am glad Ferrari has stepped up to the plate, Kimi was starting to dissapoint after the third race…great comeback. I am amazed at the strength of the BMW team. I mean, they broke up with Williams a few years ago, and now are faster and more reliable than them now. Toyota, with all the budget in the world, can’t get things quite figured out yet, some say because they like things done their way…Renault and specially Honda, not at the top of their game either. Things always turn around though 😉
The GP2 was shaping with a definite lead of Timo Glock…but given the circumstances, I dont know anymore. Lucas Di Grassi is at 2 points now after a 2 critical races by the Sport International team, has also given advantage to Luca Filippi. I really hope this year and the future shines for Bruno Senna, from the bottom of my heart. Names from the past are back now…including Nakajima, Prost(not yet on GP2) and Piquet(next year in F1)
Mid Ohio will be the host of the next ALMS race, Penske Porsche was the winner on the last and very bumpy race(New England). Audi promises a better performance…but let me tell you, watch both the P2 and GT2 classes, the level of competition now is pretty insane! Not only they deal with heavy traffic from both faster and slower cars, but with weather/visibility(night-day)/reliability/speed/strategy and etc…

All three types will qualify on friday…
