Contact this series. They have an excellent program for growing younger racers, are very self contained. Seems they are growing many of Colorado’s future racers and are more than help full and welcoming to new racers.
There is a schedule on their website, go check out a race and I think you will get all your questions answered. The dads and grandpas are very eager to help.
Welcome to a great sport to share with your grandchildren.

Junior 1 k80 age 8-12, with the club Rick mentioned, with options for out of state racing, and the largest of the 3
Mini Max age 9-12, the fasest of the 3, with options for out of state racing
Junior 1 Honda age 8-12, runs in the CSC, class only run in CO but pulls decent numbersAt 12 is the transfer year between cadet or full size karts, they can go either way. Our shop (Shockwave Karting) runs karts in all 3 classes, call me at the shop and I can go over everything in detail with you.

Thanks for the info. Is there a regional series. We live in Alb. NM. We are willing to travel .Thanks

There’s a bunch of different series in CO.
The Colorado Junior Karting Club (CJKC) that Rick mentioned is basically a regional series. It visits 4 out of the 5 tracks in CO, plus a temporary circuit in the parking lot of the Littleton Home depot, and runs the Comer K80 engine.
The Colorado Sprint Championships (CSC) is also a regional series and visits 3 tracks. The difference is the CSC runs classes for all ages whereas the CJKC is for kids only. The CSC uses the Rotax MiniMax or Honda engines.
CRE Motorsports, near Colorado Springs, would be the closest track to you. They have a series that runs at CRE only. You can run either the Comer K80 or the Rotax MiniMax there.
The Track at Centennial and IMI do a “club series” which bounces between the two tracks. You can run the Rotax MiniMax or the Honda engine packages there.
So, there’s lots of choices. Like Greg said, give us a call at the shop and we’d be happy to go into detail on any questions you might have. 1-800-608-3457
For what it’s worth, I recently heard about a small track in Albuquerque that’s apparently running races now. I don’t remember the name of it, but it might be worth looking into.

I will check out a race as soon as I can get away.
Thanks
MarkJuly 14, 2008 at 9:37 pm #61726AnonymousInactiveI have plans to attend the july 27th race at CRE. Unfortunately my grand son will be in Michigan and my son is in Pittsburg on a business trip. Still I am looking forward to meeting some people and hopefully making some new friends.
Thanks again,
Mark
