    Brad my sentiments exactly!!!!!

    Here is your post:
(There is to much politics involved for the engines to pass tech. If this was a legitimate procedure then it would have been done at the track with me present.)
Its funny Brad how when the situation is reversed you now care
I thought you said no one was allowed to watch your tech but now you say if it was a legitimate procedure and you were present??? Funny how things seem to change when you have a vested interest in it.
I have been waiting for all my letters from the top recognized motor builders in the USA to get all the proof that your call was one sided and wrong, I showed you but you didn?t seem to want to even look at them so here they are:

    Rodney,

After hearing about your situation in tech I believe it is important to
address these issues as so they do not occur again. The rules are somewhat
vague but pretty simple. As I understand you were disqualified because of
your base gasket was of the wrong size and or color, thus being altered.
This is not being altered if the cc’s were checked and it meets this
measurement. There is three different size base gaskets (OEM) that are of
different thickness and color from the gasket that come on a motor from the
Comer. Changing base gaskets will change port heights but this is not a rule
and is not altering if, the motor meets the cc rule of 7.5 cc. I hope you
get this resolved and your club puts a competent person in the position to
    tech.

In closing, I sell alot of the Comer product and to date I can not get from
Comer, a base gasket that is the same as Comer uses from the factory on the
    C50 engine.

    Rodney,

Regarding Comer 50, tech, and stock components.

We build many Comer 50 engines annually. These engines are run using WKA,
and IKF sanctioning rules. It is legal to utilize different base gaskets other than
the original gasket supplied. As a matter of fact, gaskets, seals, main bearings,
    are non tech.

Additionally, Comer supplies (from importer U.S distributing agent) a minimum
of two OEM base gaskets which are different material and thickness than provided
with most original units. This is to adjust the cylinder to meet 7.5 cc rules.

In summary. It appears that your area is using the rules out of context from IKF,
or WKA National sanctioning bodies. In this case, If your engine meets 7.5 cc rule,
    you must be deemed legal.

    Sincerely,

    Marc Zartarian

I have 2 more letters one from Ron Emmick and one from Grand Products that shows that the call that was made on the base gasket of a 50 comer is a non tech item and without doing a CC of the head there is no way to tell if I was in or out of compliance with the 7.55 cc rule that is in affect. They are both in e-fax format and I have not figured out how to scan them and put them in this post yet.
The one from Grand Products shows there are not only 2 or 3 base gaskets that the motor builders think but there are (5) OEM Gaskets made by comer for this engine. The reason for so many is to get the right CC?s when there are different parts and new and old style parts used together.

I sure hope you get your s$%^* together before you kill the biggest event out there right now.
I for one will not teach my kids to cheat and will not stand for someone to walk over me just for my lack of knowledge in this area
So here are the facts and you can handle it however you see fit
I for one just want the other family members out there to know the truth and to see the facts for themselves.

I post a post with the facts on a Bad call by Brad on the 50 comer class that cost us the IMI and CSC Championship and 85 Times it is looked at and not (1) Person had the Guts to stand up and say a word.
Then Brad Posts his (I guess you would call it a reply) and 143 times it has been looked at and the only one that had enough Balls to reply was Rod.
(IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???????????????)
Rod I agree with you I think Brad should supply all Engines for every class we have and charge $20.00 each race. The ICC guys would love him.
Here is my Reply to Brad: (If you can?t Properly Tech a 50 Comer than you have no Business doing Tech at all). Your own tech guy (which I Respect) said when I asked what size of gasket needed to be in there then if this was not the right one replied lets look at the WKA book and see and then said OH there is no spec for it.
If you or anyone else thinks that this will just go away then you are greatly mistaken who or what we are about. We stand up for our rights and speak the truth and don?t let the lies and corruption just lie under the carpet.
Brad once again How can you Based on WKA and IKF Rules Let this BS call stand since you did not CC the head to determine if or if not the motor was legal or not??????
And then let BS calls like in Steamboat were the carburetor manifold was drilled out and was told to all that Brad had drilled it and so that made everything OK.(AND NOTHING WAS DONE AT ALL ABOUT IT,THEN OR AFTER)
Brad I spoke to you on this Issue and you assured me that it would be taken care of that you did not drill it and would get to the bottom of it immediately.
Oh By the way here is the Times on our Cheater motor the day of the DQ That we were nearly beaten by half a track and came in 2nd Place and still DQ?d .

Maybe its just me and my eyes have went bad but I could swear that we got beat every lap by 2.831 Seconds per Lap.
Question??? any Racers with knowledge of this sport (IS THIS NORMAL?????)
And would any of you wonder or be saying anything like I am right now and not be afraid of the consequences of Brads wrath on us next year by speaking up and speaking the TRUTH.
I for one don?t care for the Politics in this sport but do stand up for the Facts and the Truth.
Fact: A Base gasket under WKA and IKF are Non Tech Items and the only Determining factor in its part of the Motor is or is not if it meets the 7.5 Cc?s
Fact: A Cc of the head was not done on this Motor and therefore is not out of compliance with the Rules.
Fact: The Top Motor Builders in the USA agree this call is Wrong and Should be Reversed.
Fact: There are (5) OEM Base Gaskets made from Comer for this Motor of all different Thickness and colors.
Truth: We have the Largest event in US Karting Right now and need to set a Standard and Guidelines Right now (not next Year as everyone keeps telling me it will be different next year).
Truth: What are we telling are kids by allowing things of this nature to be swept under the carpet and looked the other way.
Truth: Are we going to let $$$$ dictate this series or Rules and Guidelines.
Truth: The track owners are ran by the $$$ that keeps them in business which is sad that they have to be confronted with these decisions to make (do the right thing or follow the Money to stay in the Black and keep the track open).
I for one see a great opportunity in Colorado to take Karting to a Greater Level with the turnouts we are getting.
I for one think all Tech decisions should not be on the shoulders of the track owners that have to make decisions based on the consciences of there calls later towards there financial gains or losses.
I for one do not want to see next year the track owners like for instance Stacey Cook having to be put in a position to not make a DQ call based on the only thing it would of done is move his kid and nephew up in the points so had to make a call that he now regrets he made and whished that he would of made the right call now.
I for one would like to see the mothers get in on these decisions and help set the Standard because I know that most of them do not teach there kids to cheat and teach them to always do the right thing.

Yes Brad is powerful, but so are you and every member of the CSC. That power comes from your right to voice your opinion and vote on issues @ “the meeting”. If something was not done correctly (tech), what is our appeal process? That is a good question to address. You know I think Tristin is the best kid out there as far as his abilities are concerned. We just need to have all the rules and motor specs in writing so that we don’t have bogus DQ’s next year, it will also insure that the real cheaters are taken care of in a fair manner. Rumor has it that most of the 50 comer parents are also concerned about this stuff, and we want to have our own meeting involving the CSC officials to figure out a fair way to deal with all of these issues. Good Luck with your appeal, I applaud you for your efforts, and thanks for all your help this past season getting AJ up to speed!

The best and simplest thing to do would be to pick a set of rules, WKA, IKF, KART and tech per those rules.

Well then the next best thing to do would be to take up Brads offer of sealed comer motors. Bickering about the rules may get you just what you really don’t want. A late podium every week with boxes full of motor parts. I build my own motors, so that wouldn’t boother me, but I shure don’t think that would be the best way to get more parents involved that want to race there kids.

Rodney U. Please understand it’s not a matter of having enough guts to stick up for anyone that feels they have been treated unfairly. It’s more of a matter of not knowing all the facts about the water that has passed under the bridge. In the past I too feel that I have been riped off or screwed out of some Championships. Yet the only productive thing that can be done about it is to look towards the fewture.
With the first two years done of racing in the CSC and not one motor has had a complete tech done, it is very sad to think that we need to start with complete tare downs of the comer class.

$1500-$2000 Comer engines is what you get with IKF, WKA rules. If that is what you want for your kid to compete in this class then go for it. If not then take a serious look at my offer.

Rod we have allready had full tear downs in the 50 comer class

“Fact: A Cc of the head was not done on this Motor and therefore is not out of compliance with the Rules.”
If this was one of the complete tare downs then it is even sadder that we are having them torn down with out being teched.

I don’t know of our tech policies we have in place now. I would just hate to have to have tare downs all the time, plus I don’t want to pay for a tech to do it all the time. That would be as bad as paying to pit in the pits.

    What’s wrong with Brads offer?

A question from an outsider looking in. I have a son who will start karting this spring. I am going to be looking at the comer 50 or the baby easykart.

I can not come up with a reason why Brad’s offer wouldn’t be a great idea.

You could have your own engine for practice and when it comes time to race take it off and strap on one of Brad’s and bingo no question on whether or not anyone has illegal equipment.

I for one applaud Brad for making what seems to be an honest attempt to solve the problem.

I have to say though that cheating at any level, especially this class, boggles my mind. All the kids want to do is have a fun time. Isn’t it a good lesson to teach our children to be gracious in defeat? I think so. It makes winning so much more fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I thought Tom was just another pretty face!
As an outsider I have to agree with Tom and I would support a engine off the shelf concept. When I raced Congressional Cup sailboats out of Long Beach we all got together in the yacht club the night before the races and drew straws for 12 identical boats. That’s about as fair as it gets. Kudos to Brad to AT LEAST have a viable suggestion.

    Brad –

Have you run the numbers and logistics to see if you could do the same with Bilands?

Or how about an arrive-and-drive with your Honda rentals at your club events?

There will be definitive procedures next year. Up to this point… “All events except the finale will be run in conjunction with each track’s normal race day, and by that track?s race day procedures.”

with 2 kids to start racing in the Kid Karts next year – I like Brad’s idea.

From a new race team perspective:

I like Brad’s idea also but have a couple of concerns. Everything to this point has been a learning experience for both my son and myself. My son learning to get around the track and me preping the kart. How much of a disadvantage will it be when he moves up to the next class and i havent had to work on my own motors for a couple of years.

Rental fee’s – because someone broke the rules, wether they meant to or not, all will have to pay.

What about automaticaly teching 1st – 3rd like in other forms of racing and how would the cost of following this procedure compare to keeping a stock of motors, parts and labor to maintain, and the rental fees’s.

Good reason for having a paid TECH with the proper tools to perform the required procedures. I have been checking prices for blueprinting a comer, and have found most charge $350.00 for the blueprint. Is a comer 50 brand new $1150.00 or more? Why are we not following the same rules as the rest of the country? I see absolutely no reason to be drilling out mufflers and changing gear ratios in a class that should require little to no special setup. Baby carts in the rest of the country run an 89tooth rear gear and a spec on the muffler as well. If your going to come up with the excuse that we are at high altitude and this adjust for it, thats foolish!! If everyone is competing with the same equiptment and it just happens to be slower at this altitude WHO CARES?
