ParticipantI saw several welded mufflers last year and no DQ’s so I’m welding mine as part of my winter maintenance. Why would that be a tech item anyway, is there any performance to be had?

ParticipantWelding the mufflers on seems like a no-brainer to me, and I can’t imagine any performance advantage behind it, just seems like the safer option (still should be safety wired, since welds can fail). Sure would have saved me a lot of hassle last year…
On clutches; FWIW, I ran a Max-Torque all season with zero issues, maybe I got lucky, but maybe being slow has something to do with it! 😆

ParticipantWell just like that, Briggs has released2015 regulations for the LO206. Though, not much has changed…
Per the press release…
The only ‘significant’ change, we are mandating the use of the 808656 fuel pump that ships with every engine. “We are just seeing too many issues from racers using pumps outside the design of the carburetor that can be prevented. In addition, our racers told us they wanted to move the pump around so this has been addressed without going over the top.”

ParticipantClutch clarification in the 2015 briggs lo206 rules. Also, fuel pumps must be stock b&s pumps now.
a. Novice class must use the supplied Max-Torque clutch, part #555727. No alteration to the clutch is allowed, except springs.
b. Junior 1, Junior 2, Senior, and Masters Classes can run any rim centrifugal clutch with a maximum of 9 springs and 6 shoes. No alteration to clutch allowed, except springs. Clutch coolers are not allowed.December 23, 2014 at 3:33 am #67198Rick Schmidt
ParticipantNot sure about everyone else, but I think it would be cool to race in the rain on the off chance we had a wet track.

ParticipantDoes a Duro rain tire exist and if so is it the same size as the slicks? I’d be up for racing in the rain as long as it doesn’t cost us half the value of the kart to properly equip. Wet racing on slicks could separate the men from the boys!

ParticipantIt could jut open to any tire, new or used?

Don’t see much issue with that! Rainy conditions would probably be a bigger factor than who’s got the ‘better’ tire, anyways. Besides, i’ve got a couple sets that haven’t seen use in a while…never seems to rain on race day!
