The reason I travel is to learn as much as possible from the people running at the top. I was running in G-1 as well as TaG Masters. Qualifying near last in each class. After talking to the top Tag Senior kart (GP/Sonik), I was geared 9 teeth TO LOW!!! I could pull every kart down the back straight, but lose terribily in the corners. The top guys were turning 18,000 rpm.
In the G-1 class, all of the super G guys were there, so the bottom 14 were left for the rest of us. I had moved my way up the pack in the LCQ only to be taken out by a kart behind me. Thats racing…
After getting geared correctly, I managed to move from 8th to 6th in the Tag Class. That included 2 spin-outs! To my surprise, one kart failed scales, so that put me on the podium!!! I can’t wait for next year to begin, so I can apply all I learned, nobodys at fault, great week. I would encourage anyone that can, to go to a big event and step up the level of how you play the game.
Congrats to Jay for his 4th place finish. Great driving.
Have a great winter.
