Hi all, here is my suggestions. We do this sort of thing in competetive shooting, and it can be a real nice purse when you win or place.
1. Racer pays $20 to enter the money race. All money returned to the racers paying 4 places at 40/30/20/10.
2. Racer pays an additional $10 to enter a calcutta auction. Bidders bid on the racer that they think will win. This is called a jackpot purse with the money being payed back the same as the regular purse 40/30/20/10. The difference being that it will be split between the racer and the buyer 70/30. 70% to the buyer, 30% to the racer. Example; if A.J. would win the race he would get 40% of the racers purse, and 40% of the jackpot/calcutta purse divided 70/30 with whomever bought him in the auction.
Now this allows the racer to buy himself in the auction. You have a minimum bid of $5 to start on any racer. If no one bids on a particular racer he automatically buys himself for the $5 minimum. If that racer wins the race he gets 40% of the racer purse and 40% of the jackpot/calcutta purse with no one to split with.
The racer purse is mandatory in the Pro class, the jackpot purse is optional.
I suggest that we therefor change the format for the Pro class to accomodate the money races. This money race would be part of the CSC format. the format would be as follows;
1. Standard 2 lap qualifying as in Formula One. This will save time for the extra heat race.
2. 2 10 lap heat races to set the field
3.25 lap main event for the money
4. Weight set at 385 lbs.
All racing to be done on one set of spec tires, (no one off tires allowed). Tire compound to be determined at the beginning of the race year at the rules meeting. Moto and ICC motors allowed.
Motos, open carburetor and ignition (subjet to change)
ICC, open carburetors and silencers (subject to change)
All entries into the Pro class must run for the money. If you declare the Pro class at the beginning of the year, that is the class that you run for the entire year. There will not be any switching back and forth between classes.
If someone wants to run two different classes, he must declare which class that is for the points championship.
Feedback please. This could be a lot of fun for everyone. Racer and buyer at the calcutta. Any out of state racers welcome? You tell me,
Jim Bailey
