Well, Just got back from 2 + days at Swedish.
Not only did I have a blod clot in my left leg, it turned out to be the mother of all blood clots. It runs from mid-thigh all the way down to my ankle.
That’s bad enough, but it gets worse! A routine CT scan of my chest revealed numerous pulonary embolisms – small blood clots in both lungs. These were probably clots that broke free of my leg and settled in the lungs.
The clotting is because of two things. The injury to my shoulder, and the numerous bruises and contusions I got along with the shoulder. Second it now appears that I may have a genetic predispostion towards this sort of thing. I may be deficient in a certain clotting factor (Factor 5 Leiden) and this caused the out-off-conjtrol nature of my blot clots and embolisms in the lungs.
The short skinney is thgat I won’t be getting back into a kart for close to a year. I’ll be on some pretty heavy anti-quagulants for at least 6 months. Getting in a race kart puts me at level of risk that I’m unwilling to accept. I could mean my life. With a just a bruise I could bleed to death internally before anyone knew what was happening including me.
That’s not to say I’m done. In fact far from it. I’ll have something more in the way of an announcement for KartMonster Racing in the next couple weeks.
