3. The series needs a tech director and a race director so that there are consistant decisons made at each race. I heard many concerns about cheating but in all actuality, I think very little went on and what did was very minor. The reason I say that is in some of the instances people brought to me about cheating, the supposed cheater must not have been cheating enough because they couldn’t beat karts that I know were not cheating. But of course, the question quickly comes up, who pays for it and who do we get?
This is a must. I think the officers I mentioned are important, too, but we need a RD and TD before we get the others.
Tech will be the hardest. The person best suited to the job would have to have more than a passing familiarity with the engines in use. The TD would have to have a thorough knowledge of the specs for each motor. The TD would have to be “neutral” – not directly affiliated with any of the motor builders or suppliers in the area. The TD would have to be equiped with the tools needed to determine conformity. Most importantly the TD would have to be at every race. It a big enough job that the TD may have to call on 1 or 2 assitants to ensure that tech goes quickly.
This would have to be a paid position. No question about it. And as Doug points out, who pays for it? Where will this money come from?
We HAVE to have this, though. The other positions too, but these two people, the RIGHT people, are imperetive.
