ParticipantHi Sheldon,
I’m not an insurance expert, but I have Kaiser health insurance through my job and it covered my expenses when I was injured last year. You probably need to call your insurer and ask about coverage because it probably varies depending on what package you or your employer selected. However, I’ve been racing for a lot of years and I’ve never seen any exclusions related to racing on any of my health insurance policies.

ParticipantHey Sheldon,
Haven’t had any issues with racing and my health insurance and like Charles I have used my health insurance for injuries directly related to racing.
However, my uncle was my insurance agent and told me I would have been much better off securing my life insurance policy before engaging in flying helicopters and flying the Alaskan bush, much less racing.
For whatever it’s worth.

ParticipantI’m no expert, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t cover it. As others have said you might want to call and see. +12345 on life insurance though.

ParticipantI decided to kick the sleeping dog and called Kaiser member services, and at least in their case, everyone’s comments, above, seem to be borne out.
Thanks, you guys. Now I feel more confident about taking it up a notch. Maybe next time out at TTAC I’ll see if I can’t put it on the edge and chip it down to 5.500 minutes this time knowing that if I have a major off splints and braces should be covered…

Based on the above comment. You should have inquired as to Kaisers preventative (driver development) allowance! Might save them money in the long run. 😕
