ParticipantI hope this turns out to be fully true. It would be great to see The Track go through some revamping. Real buildings!!! HECK YEAH!

ParticipantI had heard that Unser may be one of the interested parties! I hope this is true.
New buildings would be nice and an indoor track co-located would be awesome!!! I personally like the way the Track was run, classes, race dates, rules etc. It’s been a great 10 years and I’m thankful for Jim to have the vision to build the track in the first place!!! Lets hope it continues to operate at the high level it was at. But if not, maybe we can come up with a series (206) at IMI, SBR, Action, and GJMS. perhaps a temp track somewhere too? I’m not ready to sell my kart just yet.

ParticipantLet’s get this hype train going! Real infrastructure improvements would be a great addition to an already great track. Can we fast-forward to January? The suspense is killing me!

ParticipantJon, it will all come down to the $$$$$ regardless of how strong the bidders are.
How much will the airport and/or Benny and the Jets Center want for the ground and how much will the REQUIRED improvements cost? Can you develop a profitable business around this? If the numbers don’t work, how flexible will the airport/JC be? The airport says they want it there but how bad? Those are the stumbling blocks I see.
If the airport thinks that land is now worth 22c per square foot as written in JK’s original lease all bets are off. That is close to 160k per year for bare ground. FWIW, the first 2 years of JK’s lease had the rate set at 3c per square foot.

ParticipantThat math is ugly… At $160k, with only 8 months of reasonable operating weather, you would need 500+ rental riders a month just to cover the land lease. Add insurance, buildings, karts, labor, upkeep, the advertizing to attract 500ppl a month, ect… :loony:

December 29, 2015 at 5:34 am #67477CJKC
ParticipantCJKC will running an 8 race series. We haven’t finalized our schedule in hope of a race at Centennial. We have added additional weight classes including a Tag Jr. and Light L.O. 206. Also a new CJKC Race Director, and new Tech Director.
We look forward to seeing all the racers in 2016.

ParticipantHang in there Andre, it looks like the state series may be seeing life again after laying dormant for nearly 10 years. If it can get all the Junior up racers back on the same page and not fragmented it might be something to behold once again.

ParticipantThe airport has the preliminary (unofficial?) agenda for the next board meeting up and the Track Property is NOT shown as an agenda item. Not good if you want those gates open quickly.

ParticipantHere is an article from ekarting news about it. Next board meeting on Feb 11. http://ekartingnews.com/2016/01/18/the-track-at-centennial-nearing-the-end/

ParticipantBringing back this thread to life as I am not giving up hope!
The Feb 11 Centennial Airport meeting didn’t discuss the track. Our contact at the airport mentioned it is up to the JetCenter as they own the leasing rights. I believe there are some deals that will surface soon.
I’m not selling all of my goods yet until I hear the official outcome. I’m sure if TTAC officially closes we will see all kinds of Karting equipment for sale and it will be a buyers market. Let’s hope that isn’t the case for metro Denver.
