ParticipantGood day Angie! Question are these rules sanctioned by IKF or WKA.
The reason I ask is because I purchased an engine locally. The seller bought it from a national engine and Kart builder ( Ron Emmick), which before I purchased the engine, I contacted Ron Emmick and he stated the engine was legal in both IKF/WKA. But after reading the rules for the comer 80, some questions are apparent. My concerns are that with Jr1 having three engines in the same heats, the comer’s are going to be a possibble safety hazard to the faster non-comer engines. So perhaps maybe allowing some mods for the CSC, do to the arrangement of the Jr1
class in the CSC series? Correct me if I’m wong but the animals have no fly wheel key in order to set the timing for our altitude which increases performance, and the exhaust pipe is an open Item as well? What would be the disadvantage of using the VEVEY PIPE and allowing the fly wheel key to be removed? and or an Open air Filter or is a conventional open ?Last year clutch was open, can the clutch be blue printed? Also why is the 10 tooth a #35 chain only
( comer 80 )

ParticipantRon,
Good questions. The safety issue of the K80s being much slower is something we are going to have to address. We are trying to get more information on the number of entries in each class to help us determine the best course of action. It may not be decided until the first race day – as it depends on lap times and number of entries. Anyway, I don’t think the answer will be to make the K80s faster, as it is a national set of rules for SKUSA. This is the way they run at Stars and WKA (the rules are verbatim IKF).
Hope that helps.

InactiveWelcome to one of the many cans of worms that will be opening now that we have 3 classes to replace the one that served 8-11 year old clutch carts for at leat 7 years here in CO. Back in 2000, 1:05 was considered blistering at IMI for this class. In 2004, it took 59s to win. That’s SIX seconds a lap faster folks That’s the difference between 125 Heavy and Jr 1 in 2004!
If we really follow WKA rules for Jr1 Animal, then the Animals will be restricted. This will make them run much closer to the WKA/IKF Comer80 which makes 9 HP.
Then the question becomes: what to do about the MiniMax at 13 HP? I suggest adding weight. They have their own class, so there should be no issue of fairness, we just want them slower so they aren’t running over the restricted Animals and the Comer80s in the run-group. I suspect it will take 30-40 lbs or so to achieve this. I know this makes for a heavy kart, but at least your kid won’t be running over the others and risking a flip.
If we leave the Animal unrestricted and running on Alcohol, a well built one will make 16.0 – 16.5 HP with a good cam. Subtract about 1 HP if gas. Either way, they probably are going to be faster than the MiniMax, and they will blow the Comer80s right off the track. I figure 5 to 6 seconds a lap faster than the WKA/IKF stock Comer80 at IMI.

ParticipantPlease leave the comer to that spec. I see no reason to make them faster. the comer properly set up may not be as fast as an animal or mini max but honetly who cares. The competition level is equal betwee comers. What is going to be the weight of the comer 80 class? I would love to suggest #235 so that it would be the same as stars.
Thank You,

InactiveThe best safety item would be not to have them run at the same time on the track, but that is what makes us an outlaw state….right?? Anyway, since we don’t get that choice the next best thing is to have all karts in this class run full looped rear bumpers and full size front plastic noses/bumpers.

ParticipantIF CSC IS GOING TO BE PART OF SKUSA, THEN WE RUN SKUSA RULES! WE DO NOT ADJUST A NATIONAL CLASS ( K-80) TO CONFORM TO A LOCAL OPTION! WEIGHT IS 225LBS, AND THE REST OF THE RULES ARE IN BLACK&WHITE AT SUPERKARTS USA. IF THE MINI MAX & ANIMAL ARE GOING TO BE A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE CLOSER IN SPEED, THEN THEY NEED TO RUN THOSE TWO CLASSES TOGETHER. I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE PLANING TO TRAVEL LOND DISTANCE TO RUN CSC, AND I”M NOT SURE HOW MANY WILL BE BACK AFTER THEY GET RUN OVER BY A KART THAT IS MUCH FASTER, AND SHOULD NOT EVEN BE IN THEIR CLASS! IF YOU ARE RIGHT; AND THE COMER IS 5 SECONDS PER LAP SLOWER THAT WOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME AS 80CC AND 125 WITH LES EXPERIENCED DRIVERS! LOOKS LIKE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE TO ME! :idn:

ParticipantThe CSC is not making any exceptions to the SKUSA rules for the K80s, including the weight at 225 lbs.
I tried to make it clear that the CSC will be looking at the safety factor first.
There are changes to the K80 from the way we ran them last year, which we know will slow them down. The animals will be running very close to last year’s rules. The Mini Max is a new class for us. Not having data to make these decisions, it was posted that these three may run together. Actually, it did say they would run together unless we had reason to seperate them. This was stated for those who may have considered running more than one of these classes, they needed to know that it was a possibility, before spending lots of money on a class they may not get to run.
It would also help if everyone would get their membership forms in, so we have a true gauge of class sizes.

ParticipantI now have better knowledge as to what applies to this issue, and being so I agree that all SKUSA rules should apply, It is what it is and I feel confident that the CSC will take the safety of ALL our Drivers as a Priority.

InactiveSince the Briggs Modified Class is dead, can’t they run the Junior 1, Comers in that spot by themselves?? And the way things are looking for the Junior 1, 4 cycles, the mini?s are going to running by themselves too.
