Wow what a well thought out post/idea. I for one am glad to see a positive idea without the usual skeet shooting, but that will come. If we as a racing community can think of ways to grow the sport we all have it better. How about worker points to work a race? We get better trackside support from a fellow racer and help our sport ?pay it forward? so to speak. I would like to volunteer for the board as I have years of experience in motor sports. Well that leaves the people out that race to have fun. We were thanking of joining the CSC to try the tracks statewide and learn from those experiences outside the one or two tracks that we race at the club schedule. Then again there are those people that just race at their one or two tracks and like it that way.

Really? I think it gives guys like me and anyone that races for fun a better circuit. Get a Kart, race for fun and support the sport.

As many of you know we are going to move into a DSR program with the SCCA as our next racing venture. From what I learned in Topeka at the Runoff’s a couple of weeks ago, it is going to take us a couple of years at best to put something together that is track worthy. Yes they are expensive, and yes we have lot’s of stuff to do in order to get Matt into a seat with all of the liscense, training, and apparel necessary to get to the next level. Not all of us have JR Osborne funding and we are going to keep this racing thing within our personal budgets. Along with Matt attending college next year, we will take our time building a car.
Having said all that, I cannot leave karting so fast. The Colorado Karting community has been in my blood for too many years. I have offered my services to Angie, and I will offer anything to the CSC that will help it grow into the future. Hopefully we can get a board together to help Angie and the track owners put something together for 2008 that makes sense and allows the number of entries to grow. We are just like all of the other karting communities across the country, but we are unique just like all the other communities as well. One size does not fit all, and someone is going to feel left out or hurt in the process. It is going to take real involvement and effort, not verbal assults and lip service. Hopefull I can add some sort of value to the process and stay involved within a community where we have made many friends for life.
I look forward to seeing what the next step in this process is going to be.
    Thanks,
    Curt

    OK, here goes,

I’ve been beating this drum since moving to Colorado 3 years ago. There seems to be many that would support.

Class structure can be simplified by adopting a unifying sanctioning body, i.e. IKF, Tag USA, WKA, etc. Pick one. The key is we run it at every track in the CSC. Individual track owners could utilize track option in their club series for running classes currently not run in a primary sanctioning body.

Advantages of a state wide single sanctioning body: all weights/engine spec’s/ tires and rules would be the same. This would simplify tech and make it more cost effective for the competitors and race officials. Additionally, this would reduce administrative cost of running the CSC under the current business model.

Just a basic idea on what my thoughts are on growing the sport in the state.

There’s no reason a person can’t run club races at all of the tracks in the state. And if you’re in it just for fun, you wouldn’t have to worry about competing for club points if you only compete in one or two of the races at a particular track. I’m sure this would make all the track owners happy! As Eddy points out, though, this would be easier if all the tracks adopted similar classes/rules.

Aj- solid post and sound logic. I have had to participate as a “fan” only for the last few years but hope to find a way back to karting in 08. So, as my participaiton grows so will my opinions and posts. See ya at the track.

To race in a “pro” class, do you have to be a “pro” driver? If so, how do you classify as a pro driver? There is no way to filter out the newbies and recreation karters, and just have a ‘pure’ class of “pro” racers. Even in all the STARS classes there are at least a few new guys that can’t even come close to holding the pace of the leaders (or mid-packers). If we are really looking for the purest form of competition, the three guys with ICC’s and 6 or 7 with stock hondas should sell them and race TAG 👿 . That’s just never going to happen. Some people don’t want more competition, and some people just prefer to shift. I do, however, think that the “PRO ICC” class should be removed from CSC. It isn’t growing, and it hasn’t grown in a couple years now. :boo:

The Schedule and classes are already pretty much set though for next year, but those are just some thoughts.

I love the new 2 race weekend schedule, it saves those of us who have to travel lots of Money, and time! Thank YOU!

Remove the pro shifter class? Before I rant, understand this. ICC’s and shifter racers represent the best of the best in kart racing. (sure there are good TaG racers) But everytime I tell someone i race go-karts, they ask “shifter karts?” Look at Vegas Superpro is where its at, they are the BEST. I am not going to sell my ICC engine or kart because people from another class don’t want me there. My dad and I have worked hard for 6 years to reach the pro shifter class. I remember 4 years ago pro shifter had up to 40 entries in Colorado alone. I race it because a lot of good racers are in the class, not just to win a over a small field. I agree with AJ. If you want to be the best first you must beat the best. And i dont want to give up on that. Then there are those who used to race ICC’s and went to TaG and the other TaG drivers complained they were too fast. And don’t think im yelling at anyone, Im just stating my opinion.

    Ben,
Don’t start ranting. This post is in regards to a “suggestion” that AJ “proposed” as his Idea for CSC.
The Pro’s are not going anywhere unless they choose to.
The class named was changed last year to 125 shifter, simply because no one set any rules as to what was or is a “pro” and what was or is anything else.
The level of commitment is still up to you.
    Happy Holidays,
    Jim
