CRE Motorsports Park will be hosting monthly group driving instructions to be coached by noted Denver open wheel racer Bob Perona. The first class will be held Saturday May 22nd and still has some openings available. Bob is now taking reservations for future classes to be held June 26th, July 24th, and August 21st.
Bob began racing in high school at the age of 17. Bob captured two wins and four podium finishes in his ITS Datsun 240Z, a car that he built himself ,in his first full season of racing. Over the next four years in ITS Bob went on to win eight times, set two track records and finish runner up in the championship every season. With the help of sponsors MediaOne, Speedvision and Stars, Bob moved to Formula Ford in 1998, winning in his very first event. Bob moved on to the Toyota Atlantic Championship Series in 1999; starting his own team with sponsor MediaOne. After a frustrating first season that included only two top tens, Bob was hired by Price Cobb to compete in a second season of Atlantic racing. Bob had several top ten finishes in Atlantic, highlighted by a track record at Elkhart Lake.
Bob has driven some of the fastest cars on the planet including various sports cars, karts, Fran-Am, FF2000, Formula Nippon and IndyCars. This vast experience and his depth of knowledge in chassis setup has made Bob a much sought after test driver and driving coach. Bob was priviledged to work with professional racing coach and author Ross Bentley.
Bob’s coaching focuses on both the physical and mental aspects of driving a race car. His students range from weekend recreational racers to seasoned pros. Bob is currently working on a book on motor racing sponsorship which will be available next summer.
The Perona Racing Experience will involve a very full day of both classroom and on track instruction starting at 9am and concluding at 6:30pm. The course will cover “The Basics”, race preparation, the “Mental Game”,” Building the Perfect Weekend”, how to go testing and “Building a Career in Racing” that will include helpful sponsorship tips.
This program is open for all racers of every age and ability whether you are a Junior I novice or an experienced kart racer. We are never to old to learn new tricks to improve our game.
