    Just got this info –

“The CJKC is running this weekend at IMI, but we do not have shifters and TaG’s in our club which is why it is not on our website.

However, we are running this race with the club that IMI has which does include shifters and TAGs.

So to answer your question, yes, there will be shifters and TaGS running with the CJKC this weekend.

Please contact Brad at IMI for all the details about the classes he is running on Sunday. I have copied him on this email, but you should probably call up there or stop by.

I have attached the schedule for Sunday, which includes the IMI shifters and TaG’s. Please note that the 7:00am “pre-tech and registration” only applies to the CJKC. I do not know if Brad is planning the same schedule, but I would assume so.”

Along with this came a PDF file that shows this info –

We had 2 shifters and 2 tag guys at IMI this past Sunday (yesterday).

Last year we had 8 shifters, and a whole host of tag drivers out (12+). It was such a poor showing that we grouped the shifters and tag together to make it more interesting.

Is everyone aware that CJKC races at IMI runs a shifter and tag class??? Where is everyone??

    Next two races:

-Jun 30 – CJKC IKF Kart Race (Asphalt Track)
-Aug 18 – CJKC IKF Kart Race (Asphalt Track)

It is such a great race to run with very low costs ($60 for the rack, $10 for the transponder)

Ray – I am the newbie in all this, and honestly don’t know who you are and what you represent (e.g., kids club, IMI), but will will offer these comments.

One – finding out what the program for the day was, what sanctioning body(ies) were involved, what rules would be in effect – was not easy to find. I found two different CO junior karting club web sites, one of which did not have any contact information available, and one that did, but kept coming up as a “test” web site…. I was able to get an email back with the schedule of the day (which I posted above), but was on my own to find out what the adult program was.

Two – having the event take place on the same day as the event in Calhan I suspect divided the attendance, especially considering that the SBR crew was actively marketing their event to junior karters

Three – last summer, when a group of 3 of us with TaGs and shifters were looking at IMI for an event, we were not able to figure out from their web site what what going on and when…. same issue I faced this past week.

Very clearly a chicken and an egg thing here. I considered driving Sunday at IMI, but calling ahead(as well as a poll of other drivers) the attendance of shifters was just going to be too small to justify the long day with the other classes to make the time valuable versus a test and tune day on my own or with a few others.

I must also say – after poking around on the SKUSA ProKart Challenge web site, I was rather surprised that there are only TWO S3 drivers so far in the entire rocky mountain series.

That last part seems to be telling re: entry level shifter racing. :peace and :new

Guys if you want to find the rest of the shifters head to SBR and look at our class structure on the http://www.PPKC.com website. We have all the shifter classes. The post to head to IMI this weekend was interesting seeing we have classes especially set up for shifters. Our next race is July 6/7, if you want shifters to race against show up. We have a club points series, year end trophies and good facility at SBR with every week new improvements being made.

Where are all the shifters and other drivers, the numbers this year low everywhere, we need to get out and race together as much as possible.

I couldn’t agree more. IMI has a pretty poor website. You have to be a little more pro-active to find out what is going on. Best way to find out anything at ANY track is to go and find out. You’d have to speak with Brad or Bobby (or Scott now) at IMI and ask them what is up. Second best option is to call them. Worst option is to look at the website…

My experience there is that they have so much going on with all their other tracks (lots of motoX, circle track, drifter events, supermotard, etc.) that they don’t go out of their way to advertise/promote the kart racing.

Come out to the next two races! I’m a 125 shifter and would love the competition. I love the track (I like high speed).

I am definitely going to come out to one of your events this year. The drive is the only part I don’t like (lazy, family, etc.)

How many shifters showed up to the last event? Can I show up and pay and drive? Or do I need to sign up in advance?

    Thanks!

Are there going to be any TAGs at IMI on Sunday?

Does anybody know the rules being used for the TAGs?

Tires? Fuel? Weight for a TAG Masters running Rotax?

I was gonna test this weekend, and if there a few other folks running at IMI, I might just do that.

Is Saturday structured practice or open test and tune?

Expect: open tires, open fuel, not sure what rules they will run, not sure if you need any affiliation membership, so bring some weights along just in case they decide to have a weight spec. I’m hearing of at least 2 other Leopards being there with masters age drivers.

The Colorado Junior Karting club is also racing this weekend at IMI so Sat. practice will have some kind of structure.
I’m attending Sat. and Sunday and might race my Tag Master Rotax. I’ll have my chassis straightening table with me in case anyone might need some help with that. Norbit plans on racing shifter.
