ParticipantYou should be able to run in Tag Masters as the rule is usually applied as 200# with driving gear including helmet.
As far as engines go, the two most popular choices are the Leopard and the Rotax. We could get into big arguments but the bulk of whats at the tracks are one of those two. There is good support for both and they both have their advantages and disavantages. We sell and race both engines in our factory karts so if you want to call, I can give you more detailed information.

ParticipantThanks Doug. Those were actually the engines we were looking at but we weren’t really sure what to do if I couldn’t race the master class.

ParticipantThe Biland and Motori are also good choices in addition to the Rotax and Leopard for Tag. And they are well supported as well. And seem to pull the additional weight well. Looks like the Biland has won 4 out of the 5 races in Tag Masters so far in the Track / Imi series with some performance enhancements this year, it’s a rocket. You’ll probably be a little over minimum weight but you can be competitive. Roman is around 18 lbs over in the Rmax series and is in the hunt.
There is also the new Tag 4-Stroke class that is a blast and delivers very good power and the class is growing. As we learn how to tune these motors, they are getting closer to some of the shifter times.
Whatever you decide, Welcome! Great to see more racers coming into a wonderful group people racing karts here in Colorado.
