No responses so I did some more homework and a few tests.
1. The starters do have a bendix or one way clutch.
2. A 12 volt drill struggles to turn the motor over in high speed and turns it too slowly in low speed.Drills will unscrew the nut if the engine starts and are too slow. We have Coleman starters instock which have a bendix at IMI.
