Ribtech seat and ribtech vest the best never have had any rib injuries in 8 yrs racing.

But you MUST fit snug in seat!

If you are sloshing around you will have sore ribs.

Tillet seat: bruised or broke ribs on left side of body. Regaurdless, it hurt to breath that’s all I remember!

Ribtech seat: Like Rich said as long as you fit in it with no sloshing around you’ll be okay!

Ribvest: I had my ribvest modified by sewing 1/8″ lexan on the outside of the vest. My vest had support but the “bats” were split in half right where the seat edge hit my seam on the vest. Now with the full length lexan strips I’ve not had a problem in 2 years. RIBTECH VESTS HAVE THE LEXAN STRIPS THE FULL LENGHT OF THE VEST. I would recommend both ribtech products. Spend a little more but your ribs will love it. And the ribtech seat is more flexible than the regular tillets so it’s a better performing seat, IMHO.

    Rich,

Yea, I finally changed. Bill Ray sold me on the fact that it has a reverse gear and Charles can attest that it really works! You just have to learn how to drive backwards at speed. See you at IMI this weekend? I’ll tell you all about the change if you want…

Just like to reiterate this point. The brand or type of seat is secondary to the fit, IMO. If you’re in between seat sizes, tape some foam padding in there. Your chest will compress a surprising amount while driving, so take that into account when you’re fitting yourself.

It actually hurts a lot of people to use a ribtect. It holds you in the seat so tight that the rest of your body (besides your ribs) takes a beating. I like the tillet 1/4 pad the best. Its wayyyy deep, and it allows your body to move just a tiny bit so that your whole body can work while driving, not just your arms and neck.
