If you only have a few minutes…….
Put your fronts out another two spacers from where they were…..
Match the total distance between the inside of the rear tyres with the inside of the fronts…
    Take off your stays…..
Put about 6mm toe out on…..
and steer with the throttle on lightly……wasting your time using the steering alone….
Use lines around the outside of the corners rather than the usual ones…(where it makes sense…not on chicanes obviously…..you will feel the extra grip off the rubber)….
Double the pressures from the usual if it is very wet, and leave them as low as possible if it is drying…….
If you leave the rears in as far as possible you will shred the back tyres off before half distance…..sorry greg……! !
That comes from a lot of racing in the rain in Europe…….
Shield your inlet trumpets by surrounding them on all sides with number plates…..
    ….and enjoy it…… !! !
Regards to all from Germany where I hope to go for my first spin on my IAME X30 next week……

    Hello all…….
There’s a big Irish championship event I’m going to try and do (when I go to visit the folks) which will only allow a motor from UK / Irish registered sealing agent…..so my US motor is being re-sealed at the moment……

Thanks to all for the kind offers, I’d just love to go back and do a few races but I doubt I’ll get the opportunity. Although I have to say racing is the US is so much less complicated and enjoyable than in Europe. So far I have my racing licence ($200), I need to register to get a number before I can race ($40), the entry is ($150), needed a month in advance, not to mention getting all the gear etc. But it’s a bit of fun so I’m still at it….
I went to Garda in Italy (about 4 hours drive away from where I am in Germany) and the track looks great so when my motor gets back I would love to go and have a spin.
I’m also dying to see how I fare against the current crop of sixteen year olds in Ireland………..Have not been in a kart since Grand Junction last year….! !

Great to hear from you all, hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet again and of course if you are coming to Germany for any reason drop me a line….! !

    Hello all from freezing Germany…..
The carb issue could well be that the slide is not returning home to the rest position fully….this will stop any rotax engine from starting. Needing to choke it is also a sign that the venturi is “open too much” without choking. Just check the slide can go down to the home position and check you do not have the idle up too high.

My rotax motor is in the UK at the moment getting sealed for European use…!

Regularly wish I could go out for a run at Grand Junction…..will be planning an attack on a race or two somewhere in Europe to keep me of fthe streets…..! !

Hello all, wish I was able to be there for the TAG race, I got back to Colorado Sunday midnight before going off to Germany for good this weekend.
    Two interesting points perhaps –
First – It is common to seal a motor more than once so if the organisers want to check a competitors engine they can put their own seal on it as well as the rotax one, then all points scored with that motor are “at risk” until the tech is done, and if at the end of the season the motor is not OK any races won with it are zero points. Easy and no extra cost to the competitor.
Secondly – a rotax sealer in Europe has just lost his licence because of modifying crankpins to alter the rotax timing, so some independence from the rotax sealers is probably a good idea.
Sorry to hear about the messing….!

I’d go for the rotax if you are interested in the least amount of hassle and also being competitive. It is hard to beat at IMI and grand Junction and you just take your chances elsewhere.
Overall though, it costs far less to run than other two stroke motors, and you can do the max challenge etc if that takes your fancy.

Do you notice the kart performing differently around left hand versus right hand corners ? ?? IF not, I would not worry about it…..! If your setup does not require the use of a lot of lock like your tests, it may not be making a lot of difference to the kart. Always being equal though has to be better from a logical perspective….! !

That approach would mean no-one would have any reason to join until they were about to win the championship….. !! !
If you pays your money to participate in the championship, you can, if you don’t you can’t. Can’t get much fairer than that…… ?

Just for the record, castor oil in a rotax invalidates the engine warranty (from the factory that is) so I do not think there should be any rules trying to promote that……

It sounds like it is far from the same spec tyre…..
We should have a rule what race the new ones become legal on otherwise there is opportunity for a bit of messing to go on…….

    What’s the “new yellow” ? ? ?
Does this mean there are different versions of the tire we are supposed to have “standardised” on…..?? ? ?
